Doctors referral says suspected breast cancer

I posted earlier about concerns around Pagets / breast cancer and am struggling to not panic. I have just opened up my doctors app to check my referral letter has been sent and the GP has put me on the urgent 2WW but has written, “suspected breast cancer.”

Now I’m extremely stressed. In this a normal thing for them to write for the two week wait ?

This is all so frightening

  • Hi. Sorry to jump on the post. I'm in the same situation and go to my breast clinic tomorrow, I'm so anxious and would like my partner to be woth me however I also fear I seem "dramatic" needing support over something that may be nothing! X

  • Hi L.Water

A very warm welcome to our forum
I am sorry to hear that you find yourself in this unenviable position too.  This is always a worrying time. None of us are very good at dealing with so many unknowns. Irrespective of the outcome, it becomes easier once you know what you are dealing with. It is not unusual to want your partner with you. This is not being "dramatic" at all. Many of us need that extra support.

If it is of any interest to you, not all lumps are cancerous. Many turn out to be benign cysts, fibroadenoma, or due to hormonal changes. It is a fact that only 20% of those referred to the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis, so here's hoping that you'll b one of the lucky ones!

I sincerely hope that all goes well for you tomorrow.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,
