I'm still here! So many years after my metastatic diagnosis.

Just catching up - it's been a while.

Hello everyone, and hoping for the very best of health and happiness for you in 2025.

And wishing you all the very best for 2026!

Thank you to the friends I've met on here, and hoping to encourage anyone living with metastatic cancer, people like myself with difficult diagnoses. I'm still living with my Stage 4 cancer. But still looking after my grandchildren. Still enjoying life. Yes, I get tired, but wow what a wonderful life it is!

Hoping for your best outcome

  • Hi Mare,  I have stage 4 breast cancer with mets in most bones.  I was diagnosed one year ago.  I would like to see your website and know your secret :)

    Hi Lee,

I am not sure there is a "secret" as everyone is so different and our cancers are unique to each of us I think - the nurses will know more about that.

But I believe there are many things we might be able to do to help ourselves stay as healthy as possible in order to receive appropriate medical treatment.

I am always happy to chat about the things that I feel have helped support me on my journey so far.

I do not share my web site publicly but you're welcome to contact me as a "friend" on here. People tend to look at my stuff and pick bits from it that suit them. I also point to the books that have helped encourage me towards hope and focus whilst living with my cancer.

As far as I am aware, treatments are improving all the time so I like to try to stay hopeful wherever I can, but that's sometimes fairly tricky!

Looking forward to chatting to you, and wishing you all the best

  • Hi Mare

For the many of us with advanced cancer it can often get overwhelming. A bit of encouragement or even just a kind word can make such a difference. Living with cancer and taking great joy from being with your gandchildren is indeed a life well lived. My own grandchildren energise me and fill me with hope for their and my own future. Im a bit over a year with metastatic cancer but over 10 years with locally advanced cancer. I take each precious day as it comes and do what I am able to. Like you Fatigue is also my constant companion. All in all I have a pretty good life and immunotherapy is helping prolongue it. Good to hear from you.

  • Hi Ed,

I think we're part of a growing number of people who are hoping to live longer with this disease nowadays.

I find this forum has been a good place to chat to people who understand what it means to be living with the uncertainty of it all. It's not easy is it!

It's good to hear from you too :)

  • Hello Lee

I think mare's secret is likely to be her zest for life. How is life treating you anyway? I summoned up the energy to go out last night to enjoy live music and a few drinks with friends. Although Im pooped today its done me a lot of good. Thanks for the many tips youve passed on to me.I got a new pillow for side sleepers and it has made a good improvementt in sleep quality. I think because my spine is better aligned causing less numbness and pins and needles in my arm and less pain in my ribs. Wishing you a nice day ahead.
