Didn’t expect this: I was diagnosed with advanced Pancreatic Cancer 11 July

Hi

July this year, had a mild stomach ache. I was diagnosed with advanced Pancreatic Cancer 11July. Came from nowhere, I’m 63.

is anyone else going thru this ? How do you cope?

  • Hi,  There is no greater reason to fight this and your son sounds like a lovely boy.  Thank you for all the advice especially  about socks and mittens I didn't know that and wishing me good luck.

  • How are you both? Seton sands how did it go today. Did you get the answers you were looking for.

  • Hi Mushroom,  It's all so surreal sometimes as I'm sure it is for everyone. Starting Chemo in fortnight 'FOLFIRINOX. There is  only 20 to 30% that if will reduce tumour from vein, I'm staying positive.  I hope you are well today.

  • Yes, it feels like a nightmare you can’t wake up from.

You ask yourself.. why me? What did I do wrong. Did I eat the wrong things… i should have exercised more..handled work stress better…  the list goes on

So there is hope as they are giving you chemo.
Yesterday at work a friend told me his 47 year old wife has bowel cancer, no treatment offered as too far advanced.

All we can do is stay positive as you say,

  • You are so right,  I do the same looking at why me!  Im so sorry to hear about your  friends wife thats the worst news anyone can have.  It's good to hear you are able to keep working through your treatment.  When I was at Beaston Glasgow on Thursday  it was an eye opener looking at  everyone, every age different stages of this horrible disease cancer.  I couldn't stop myself thinking  I wander what type of cancer they have  so many  people.  Sone being positive like we are some looking so lost.
