Didn’t expect this: I was diagnosed with advanced Pancreatic Cancer 11 July

Hi

July this year, had a mild stomach ache. I was diagnosed with advanced Pancreatic Cancer 11July. Came from nowhere, I’m 63.

is anyone else going thru this ? How do you cope?

    1. Hi  Mushroom,  I'm so sorry it's just devastating.  I was diagnosed on 12th September  I had gnawing  pain upper right quadrant.  Local advanced pancreatic cancer  in main body 2.9cm with celiac vein involvement.  I have my first oncologist appt this Thursday.  Im hoping the chemo will reduce tumour to  allow potentual surgery.
  • Hi Sentonsands, It’s the most awful news. My thoughts are with you. It’s shocking news, not only for you but for everyone around you.
I’m about two months ahead of you I guess. I’m at 5.1cm tumour on the tail of the pancreas spread locally to the lungs. I started chemo six weeks back. Every Tuesday. I won’t lie but starting chemo isn’t pleasant but it gets better. You start to manage it and cope.

Wishing you the very best for Thursdays appointment.

    fight it all the way.

  • Thank you so much Mushroom300 for your kind words.  Im so glad your managing  your chemo I have been told its tough.  Its the waiting that's  also frightening.  I will keep fighting .  I can  tell your fighting it! Keep positive.

  • Hi, I was diagnosed with a tumour in my pancreas last Thursday19th, I’m still in shock, was told menopause, ibs, then my diabetic bloods went sky high , and my urine turned brown. I was sent for a C/T scan and told by a junior doctor at 10.30 that night. I’m 57 and very very scared, I’m still waiting for …..what happens next

  • Hi Nickerynook

So so sorry to hear your news.

I know exactly how you are feeling. Nine weeks on and it still hasn’t sunk in with me. I thought my issue was IBS… I was very wrong.

Its a journey none of us thought would happen to us.

They got me on chemo within 3 weeks, every Tuesday

just leaving now for my 6th treatment.

Chemo will have its ups and downs, I can’t say you get  used to it, you just adapt. I have no sickness now after treatment, where as at the start I did.

The Cancer charities have been very good, a small thing was getting a blue badge. It’s helped a lot they can help.

My thoughts are with you, please keep in touch.

    • Hi  Nickerynook,  I'm so sorry this is  happening to you and your love ones.   I know iits  really scary Im still in shock as well, as Mushroom said a journey we never thought we would  be on.   I was at my doctors end June with upper right pain,  I ended up having H Pyliro and my doctors also thought   IBS.   2x CT scans one contrast, and  MRI contrast,  EUS FNA  26th August 3 biopsies pancrease diagnosed on 12th Sept .  I have my first oncolgy appt this Thurs.   Please try not to  do doctor google, as I did, the cancer sites  are best.
  • Totally agree leave google doctor well alone.

The main charities advice are the way to research.

Unfortunately my 13 year old son has been googling.

My thoughts are with you both….
