I know this isn't what your expecting to hear but had my first Chemo last week, and found it utterly relaxing x I didn't cold cap.

The hair is all good. I’ve only washed it once since chemo which is really hard for me, I usually wash dry and straighten every single day! 
I’ve bought a silk pillow slip and bobble for bedtime and only brush when need to wide tooth comb.

Will see what round 2 of chemo does but all ok for now xx

Silk pillow is a very good idea, I’m going to add that to my list of stuff to get. I’m going to get mine cut this week cos it is quite tangley and difficult to comb through when it’s long so I think having it shorter will help. They mentioned some injections that I’ll have to do at home, did u get those? Xx

Silk pillowcase is good. 
Yes I’ve to self inject for 7 days starting 2 days after each cycle of chemo. 
I can’t do it myself, even though I’m a nurse lol so my daughter is doing it for me x

Hello, change of plan they delayed it by a week as I had to get some dental work done first and couldn’t get an appointment until yesterday. So starting next Thursday or Friday, just waiting on a letter with the new schedule. Thanks for your message though. How are you doing now? Xx

Oh that’s good your getting  your dental work done first.

I’m doing good, I’ve had a few headaches, some dizziness and my stomach a bit upset since starting the injections but all manageable and not stopping me from getting out and about.

Round 2 next wed so will see how that goes.

I went to a wig shop in the city centre today (will message u privately to let u know which one) but it was brilliant I’ve ordered one that I really like. I also went to the one at my hospital that u went to but wasn’t keen on any of theirs, I thought this shop was far better so if u haven’t got one yet I’d highly recommend them xx

Hello, how did round 2 go? I’m officially starting tomorrow so I’ll just be a week behind you. Had my pre-chemo hair cut today, cried quite a lot but actually quite liking my new choppy bob, never had my hair like this before, always had it long. Hope you are doing well xx

After 10 attempts the decision has been made for me to have a picc line

So back next week to try again after picc line inserted.

I also had my hair cut, it’s now shoulder length, shortest I’ve had it.

Oh dear sorry to hear that, was that painful? I was expecting to get either a port or picc, it’s quite surprising that they usually do all the infusions in the arm. I will let you know how I get on, it’s still a late start, 3.30 but they said it should only take about 3 hours xx

It was uncomfortable only because of the many attempts and can only use my left hand because I’ve had lymph nodes removed from my right side.

Hey, round 1 done! Feeling ok so far, like you said cold cap not nearly as bad as expected, I didn’t even find the start that bad so I’m a little worried it was maybe too big, i have a pretty small head and had their smallest cap! Xx

Hey Emma, glad to hear all went well and you tolerated the cold cap. I didn’t find it bad at all this time just a shame I had to do it and not actually get my chemo.

Have you got antiemetics, steroids and injections to take at home? 

Sleep well and hopefully you have no side effect. xx

Hi thanks for checking in, I’m not so great at the moment, I’ve come down with quite a bad cold that I caught off the kids - typical! So I don’t think it’s chemo related but that’s maybe making me feel it worse, been in bed for the last 2 days with a really sore head that isn’t clearing.

How are you doing? How’s the hair? Mine is quite itchy and I’m scared to touch it, I look a state as I’ve not washed it in a week! lol xx

Sorry to hear your not feeling great, just keep an eye on your temperature and if your in doubt at all phone the helpline just to be safe.

I'm ok just a bit fed up, my hair is coming out in clumps so that’s getting me down I’m also scared to touch it my scalp is really itchy and tingly too. 
Finally got appt for picc line on Monday so should be good for next chemo on Wed. 
Went to the place you suggested to see about a wig they had so much more to offer. I ordered one that should come next week.

Yeah I have been checking my temperature lots, I do feel a lot better today so think I’m getting over it now. 
Oh no I was hoping you had managed to keep your hair! Sorry to hear that, I can imagine how upsetting that will be (I’m sure it’s going to happen to me soon). Do you think you’ll keep going with the cold cap or is it too much that’s come out?
great news on the wig though, really glad you got sorted xx

I will see how much more comes its just really thin but no bald patches as yet so will continue with cold cap for now.
