Hi BumbleBeep :) I wish I had more info for you, I have no updates on my end... bloodwork, ultrasound, paptest all came back normal. No infections. And this has been happening for 13 months for me..

Its confusing..

13 months!? this has been happening for me for around 4 and I feel like I’m going crazy. First it was spotting and now this. Had a pap 2 Tuesdays ago but I’m in the UK and the results takes WEEKS. Good luck o hope you get some answers soon 

I went to the doctors, she actually didn’t seem concerned at all about it, she said she’s never heard of it before, which makes me feel like it should be a little more concerning. After explaining things and what I seen on this she done a couple swabs, checked my cervics, I can’t get a smeer test because I’m under 25. She’s also sending me for an ultrasound. Hopefully all comes back clear, weird if nothing comes back either and why it’s happening.

So I have been having this problem for around 2 year's. I’ve had scans, bloods, swabs tried the coil. Everything as always come back normal. When it first started it was always mid cycle every time I had a bowl movement until my actual period then after my period it would stop until mid cycle again. I’ve spent the last 2 year worrying about it and it’s sending me insane. In recent months my period have started to change the dark brown and thick and the bowl movement bleed happen every time not just mid cycle. I’m at then end of the line with trying the doctors I’ve been so much about this I think they just don’t want to listen any more. To be honest they have tried to find the cause but everything comes back normal. The worry is starting to affect my mental health I actually dread going to the toilet. I’m 38 with 2 kids 12 and 9.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. This has happened to me twice just last week and it has freaked me out. I’m 51, menopausal and have had really heavy vaginal discharge for months. Been tested for everything, had antibiotics, creams, a coil. But nothing stops it. Now this vaginal bleeding has started after a bowel movement. I’m going for an ultrasound on Friday afternoon. Doctors keep saying there’s nothing to worry about!! But this isn’t normal! Like you, it’s driving me mad, wake up in the night worrying about it. Xx

I’ve had this on and off for years. I had a smear test come back normal, blood test come back normal, and a scan which showed that I had a small fibroid which was the cause of the bleeding. I still get the bleeding after a bowel movement, but relieved to know what it is. They said it could be removed, but they grow back. 

Hi ABC1234, I have bleedings to after bowel movement. I had a scan and I have 9 fibroids but never knew they could cause bleeding. Can you explain pls what you know? Many thanks 

Hi, sorry if doubling up on reply. Not sure if first one went through. Can you explain if possible why fibroids bleed? I have nine fibroids and have same problems after bowel movements. Went for a scan all normal but still worried. I had no explanation why this is happening. I am menopausal too on hrt. Many thanks.

Hi, not everyone who has fibroids has bleeding, but it depends where they are located. When symptoms are present, they can include: Abnormal vaginal bleeding, such as heavier, longer periods or bleeding between periods. I used to bleed everytime I exercised, crunches are particularly bad for people with fibroids.

Also eating oestrogen rich foods can cause them to grow etc, especially soy, flaxseeds and dried fruits etc.  And menopause can cause them to shrink which also encourages them to bleed.  I am not a doctor though.  You should always get symptoms checked out with a doctor.

I have been bleeding irregularly for weeks now. I have heavy bleeding after sex and also bleeding after bowel movements. 

i called my GP who basically said im not die smear till 2024 Feb 

my last smear was Feb 2022 - where i has CIN3 and had to have Lletz treatment. 

and now this is happening and GP wont even make me a appointment what should i do 

Hi JulieCC sorry to hear about your experience. Your GP seems a bit ignorant to me. It's good to hear you got treated for your CIN3. It normally take very long time for severe cervical cancer to develop sometimes 10 years or more, so it's good that you catched it early last time. Can you get a second opinion for another GP?  Also, if you can I would do a smear test and/or transvaginal scan privat if you can afford it. Obviously talk to a private doctor first and consult with them what they think what tests you should have. In the end it's your health and you can show the test results for GP if you need further treatment. I wish you all the best with your health and peace of mind.
