Hi. I'm sorry to hear this and pleased you already know about your appointment. I guess my case has similarities (I'm waiting for an appointment on a red flag list that's reserved for melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma). I can certainly relate to how difficult things must be for you. For me, being aware of the potential and waiting for clarification one way or the other is completely horrendous. I'm sorry that you are awaiting an examination of your mole - fortunately you don't have too long to wait for your appointment. It's unusual for a mole to be two different types of skin cancer but it's good that your GP is being proactive & getting it checked out quickly. Hopefully it will be a BCC but if not, try not to worry too much about melanoma as it may be caught quickly enough for it to be easily treated.

Your question about 60 days - Cancer diagnosis and treatment is now dealt with under the 28 Day Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS) which states how quickly a patient should be diagnosed and given treatment. The following link explains it but in summary, a patient should be diagnosed or cancer ruled out within 28 days of referral - if cancer, treatment should begin within 62 days of referral or within 31 days from the day a treatment decision is made  NHS England » Widespread clinical support for reforming NHS cancer standards to speed up diagnosis for patients

Hi Angie, thank you for your reply, really appreciate it. Yeah my appointment is a week after next so hopefully it's a biopsy appointment and not just a check, but I do know the wheels turn slowly sometimes.

The info you gave on the time it takes to get treatment is good, it's quicker than I thought. I'm just anxious, hate waiting at the best of times let alone for something like this.

With I could put a pic on here of it to get some opinions but don't think I can, can't see the option.
