Colonoscopy

Hi every one I’m due for a colonoscopy on Tuesday I’m feeling really scared don’t really feel.upto the procedure as I really suffer with stress and anxiety but I know I need to do this  I have been feeling as if I need to poo but some times it’s just reddish pus and feeling very gassy but because of feeling I need to poo I’m always in the bathroom , been having problems for a while now. I thought maybe I just had internal piles but when I went to my gp doctor couldn’t see or feel any thing so did a fit test which came back positive  so I was referred for a colonoscopy  I’m so scared of having cancer  not looking forward to the bowel prep  I think your all a lot braver than me   Xx

  • Hi tangoPotter. I have gone through every feeling you are going through now. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in February of last year, completed all of the scans and CTC scans, and had a colon resection carried out in April of last year. Luckily traces of cancer were removed, and I didn’t require chemotherapy afterwards. It’s understandable that you will feel anxious, because I did at that time, but I did it with the thought that I had to do this, as I had no other option. I found the staff involved at each stage, from the first step of the camera, and right though until and after my opp were fantastic and put me at ease through every step of the way. I wish you luck going forward. I had my second appointment with my colonoscopy nurse last Friday, blood tests ect, the nurse telephoned me on Monday this week to let me know that everything is fine. In April this year 2025 I have another colonoscopy and CT scan arranged, just to check my progress. Take care.
