8cm Complex Ovarian Cyst with CA125 of 51 - Absolutely terrified!!

I posted on here a few days ago after I found out unexpectedly that I had a large complex ovarian cyst. The consultant thinks it could a dermoid cyst but can't determine this for sure and is sending me for an MRI scan. In the meantime, my CA125 has come back raised at 51!!! I'm postmenopausal which just adds even more risk into the mix and I just feel like the odds are stacking up against me. I've had no symptoms and only got checked out because of a tiny amount of postmenopausal bleeding. I'm all over the place.

  • I'm so glad you are cancer free! I have been thinking of you and the other ladies on this thread, but I've let life get in the way of following you all up. It's been a difficult time.

Wishing everyone health and wealth in the new year. Hoping your respective treatments are helping and that those without are healing.

    Lyns

  • Thanks Lyns I hope you are okay and everything outside of this thread is going ok with you.

  • Brilliant news! I think we all deserve to have a much better 2026 than 2025! Wishing everyone who has taken the time to share their stories and offer support and advice, a very healthy and happy new year! X

  • That’s wonderful news. Did you hear back before Xmas and manage to have a nice relaxing Xmas? I hope so! Your histology results came back super fast, I still haven’t officially had mine from Surgery in July! So pleased for you and how great your care has been x

  • How are you doing? I think about the ladies on here often and just seem to never get a minute to check in on you all! is chemo finished? Still going? I hope you are doing ok and managed to have a nice festive time x

  • And you jeh, I think about you too often! How are you? You weren’t feeling so great after first chemo. You will be long past that now. Are you still having chemo? Thinking of you and hoping 2026 is better x

  • Oh fully agreed. I wished away 2025 so I am looking forward to the 1st Jan ticking over!
how have you been? Fully better?
I have had some pains and between period bleeding which has been driving me up the wall. I had an ultrasound a few weeks ago and the ultrasound tech couldn’t find my left ovary (the one they operated on) so I’m not sure where she has gone. Haha. He said nothing to worry about though and I got clear results from a smear test this morning so I think actually it might be scar tissue forming. I’ve no idea. I’m still with the same gynae so she will be in touch but I know I’ve nothing to be too concerned about which I am very grateful for
As you say - roll on 2026! Grateful to you and everyone else for support during a testing year x

  • Evening, not sure if this thread is still active but it has been a great thread and i wanted to share my story as i am currently playing the waiting game.

I have a known Ovarian cyst which is surrounded by adhesions and bowel and has gone from 6.5cm to 14.5cm in a matter of 6 weeks and an urgent CT in A&E showed it was complex even though it has been simple for the past 3.5 years. It was 17cm in March 2025 but it got drained in April as plays havoc with my bowels and bladder.

I had an urgent MRI last week and was discussed in MDT Friday and have been given f/u appt on 16th Jan. I am already under the gynae oncology team as even though my cyst was simple ive had a previous cancer of the placenta 13 years ago so they took my case.

I am freaking out - even if benign i may need surgery as have had to have catheters inserted 3 times to drain my bladder as the rapid growth has squashed my bladder.

  • Hello! Sorry for the delay. I'm half way through my chemo so 3 more to go! I'll stay on avastin though every 3 weeks for another 9 cycles then maintenance drugs.

Today I got good news that my tumours have shrunk by 50%!! I'm so pleased it's working and it almost makes the side effects bearable!
