Waiting Biopsy results

Hi everyone

Very new to this site.. it's currently 4:42am and im laid in bed with my mind racing.

I had a sharp burning pain a few week ago coming from my upper outer breast area which made me have a feel around.. i found a lump straight away from the same area. I went to my GP as soon as i got back from my Holiday and got reffered for 2 week wait. I went to my appointment yesterday and i had ultrasound test to which then turned into a mammagram and biopsy.. she did two areas where the lump is and just abover under my armpit.

I then saw the consultant who was not positive at all and told me to start thinking of the worse.

Im 33 years old with a 2 year old and not handling it very good at all. Please can someone talk to me.. give me positive stories or breast cancer.

Or did this similar situation ever happen to anyone before and the results turned out benign? Im thinking of my daughter more than anything, she needs her mummy.

Thank you for taking your time to reply.x

  • I found the lump Easter weekend. Biopsy results (private) were back on 19th April. Then I moved to treatment on the NHS. I've had surgery today. A lumpectomy, some skin removal and a partial reconstruction. It was too close to the skin so that's why I needed to have the partial reconstruction

Mine was a 44mm x 38mm lump. So quite large.

Yes the original consultant said he's seeing it more and more whic is worrying x

  • It really is sadly so much common in younger age groups now, it’s scary. I hope by the time our daughter’s are older it is very easily treated and got rid of.

How is your mum doing? My mum is upset that I didn’t tell her until after my appointment she just wants to support me. I lost my dad to cancer 8 years ago so this is all very familiar and brings up some hard to deal with memories xx

  • Sorry to jump in, how long did the private results take and did they call you to tell you? I am with a spire hospital so could be different, I have an appointment for the week after next for my results but just wondered if they could be back a bit sooner xxx

  • On my ultrasound mine is described as a 2cm with subtle ridge nodularity. How do you feel? Hope all went well with you.. did they put you to sleep? Do you need anything else as well as the lumpectomy? Sorry your going through this. They defo should lower the mammagrams i think! X

  • So sorry to hear about your dad.. my mum came with me to my appointment i have literally been living with her since.. she has taken time off work to look after my daughter. We even been eating clean etc too and im having these awful green smoothies she is making me on a night lol which are full of goodness. My mums been upset with me we are like you and your daughter the best of friends. X

  • Hi. Yes I was with the Spire too. The consultant booked me in for a face to face appointment a week later but they called and said that it wasn't ready. I was booked in for another appointment 2 days later and the results were back then. A long winded way of saying 1 week and 2 days xx

  • I am the same. I lost my mum to breast cancer in 2019. It's brought up some really horrid dark places. But I am trying to keep positive and busy. Xx

  • Hi GL91,

I shall be thinking of you tomorrow and hope that it all goes well. I am sorry that you experienced such a bad day yesterday - we all have them. No matter how good your support system is, or how much reassurance you're given, this is your problem and you will have days like this. However, our imaginations always make things seem worse than they actually are and you will deal with this,  whatever the outcome.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Aww that’s so lovely she sounds like your rock and a fantastic support for you and your daughter.

The green smoothies sounds interesting lol but it’s important to stay healthy and everything helps, and as it’s green that sounds very good for you lol.

My appetite is up and down, I often just feel so sick and don’t want to eat but know I need to stay strong so do, other times I have a normal appetite… I normally love my food xx

  • Hi RedRuth,

I am delighted to hear that your surgery is behind you and that you're not feeling too bad. Many of us react in different ways, following a general anaesthetic, so I suspect that this was the cause of your faintness. Did you have to have much reconstruction?

You will find this forum very helpful, as you travel your cancer journey. Keep in touch.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
