Waiting Biopsy results

Hi everyone

Very new to this site.. it's currently 4:42am and im laid in bed with my mind racing.

I had a sharp burning pain a few week ago coming from my upper outer breast area which made me have a feel around.. i found a lump straight away from the same area. I went to my GP as soon as i got back from my Holiday and got reffered for 2 week wait. I went to my appointment yesterday and i had ultrasound test to which then turned into a mammagram and biopsy.. she did two areas where the lump is and just abover under my armpit.

I then saw the consultant who was not positive at all and told me to start thinking of the worse.

Im 33 years old with a 2 year old and not handling it very good at all. Please can someone talk to me.. give me positive stories or breast cancer.

Or did this similar situation ever happen to anyone before and the results turned out benign? Im thinking of my daughter more than anything, she needs her mummy.

Thank you for taking your time to reply.x

  • Hi I wanted to message to say I am going through this and waiting for results too. If you ever need to talk just drop me a message xx

  • Thank you. How are you coping? Im exhausted today but i think its mental stress. I get my results tomorrow. X

  • Aww she sounds a little cheeky one and a fantastic distraction, although it’s lovely your mum is there to help as all this emotion definitely takes it out of you.

There are stories where people have been told the same as you and had positive news so you never know and they don’t know until they get the results.

My dr said it could be benign but they won’t know until after the biopsy, but many have been told that too and ended up with a scary outcome.

  • Hi GL91. I totally understand the 'why me". It was one of my main thoughts too. Buy it's wained over time and I'm focusing on getting through one step at a time.

Work hsd paid for counselling for me and I have to say it really has helped. I can definitely recommend it.

Let us know how you get on! Sending lots of positive vibes.

The archer - I'm sorry you are also going through this. Again I'm sending lots of positive vibes to you too.  Again. Let us know how you get on.  Strong women supporting each other! X

  • Sorry about that I didn’t finish writing my message then hit the wrong button.

    I am from Kent xx

  • How long ago was you diagnosed?  The more i have read the more people i have seen in there 30's going through it.. and it suppose to be uncommon. I dont think it is anymore with the sounds of it.

I do just want to crack on with it all now once i go tomorrow i just want to know plan etc and get it out whatever it is. X

  • I know someone that has happened to was told same as me and was benign.

Thats good they have said that to you if they say it could be benign though! I mean they dont 100% know until they get them results back. I know treatmens now for breast is so good too. My mum been talking to others and the more you talk the more people seem to come out and say there sister had it or aunt etc and that was like 15 years ago! I just want to look back to this time in a couple of years and think wow its been like 5 years since that happened. X

  • Thank you that’s really appreciated xxx

  • I found the lump Easter weekend. Biopsy results (private) were back on 19th April. Then I moved to treatment on the NHS. I've had surgery today. A lumpectomy, some skin removal and a partial reconstruction. It was too close to the skin so that's why I needed to have the partial reconstruction

Mine was a 44mm x 38mm lump. So quite large.

Yes the original consultant said he's seeing it more and more whic is worrying x

  • It really is sadly so much common in younger age groups now, it’s scary. I hope by the time our daughter’s are older it is very easily treated and got rid of.

How is your mum doing? My mum is upset that I didn’t tell her until after my appointment she just wants to support me. I lost my dad to cancer 8 years ago so this is all very familiar and brings up some hard to deal with memories xx

  • Sorry to jump in, how long did the private results take and did they call you to tell you? I am with a spire hospital so could be different, I have an appointment for the week after next for my results but just wondered if they could be back a bit sooner xxx

  • On my ultrasound mine is described as a 2cm with subtle ridge nodularity. How do you feel? Hope all went well with you.. did they put you to sleep? Do you need anything else as well as the lumpectomy? Sorry your going through this. They defo should lower the mammagrams i think! X

  • I'm feeling a lot better now. I was quite dizzy when I came round at about 1.15. But feeling much better. Clearly my mind isn't with it. I asked my husband to dig out my post surgery bra from my bag  before he left and he did. After a bit more I looked at the black fabric on my shoulder as I assumed it was for the drain pack they've put in and looked down and I found that i was already wearinf my my other post surgery bra. Hahaha. The team must have got it out of it out of my bag in surgery.

I have had a lumpectomy, sentinel node biopsy and removal of a portion of skin as.it was too close to the skin to leave it. So I've had a partial reconstruction with a flap from under my arm in the area of my bra line.

Yes it's a general anaesthetist. Surgery was expected to take 2 and a half hours. But apparently it took me a long time to  come around in recovery. X
