Endometrial cancer

Hello everyone - world turned upside down with a diagnosis of cancer in womb yesterday. Only went to see GP a week ago about water infection and scan yesterday revealed otherwise. Op arranged in 10 days time so all happening incredibly fast and I’m a bit she’ll shocked and I know I haven’t listened properly to GP etc about what is going to happen so I’m consulting Dr Google which is a stupid thing to do. If anyone has had endometrial cancer post menopause I would appreciate any information especially if it is known to spread. Thank you

  • Hi Sally

    Thinking of you.

  • Hi Nikki

Sorry I meant to post last night but fell asleep!

It was very painful, took 2 attempts but I'm so pleased I persevered as it turns out it's all perfectly normal the consultant didn't even bother taking a biopsy as she said it was all healthy

She was disgusted in what I'd been told by he gp and is putting in an official complaint about it! She said all I should have been told was it was a possibility but that it needed more investigations. I shouldn't have been told it was and then shown the different treatment plans for the different grades!!

As you can imagine I'm over the moon and have slept soundly for the first time in a few weeks

I will check in to see what your results are and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's also good news

Thank you so much for your support on here

    Sally xx

  • Hi sundial, MY first visit to this site. Had a full hystorectomy  due to cancer found in womb, now all clear, all went really well, and trying to decide about Brachytherapy and the after effects re. Bladder and bowel. How was it for you?

N.b. Wish all you brave ladies all speed for a successful recovery, big hugs xx

  • Sallllyyyyyyy thats fantastic news i am so happy for you honestly.. Wish there was a dancing emoji I could use lol.

What a relief, a whole weight lifted off your shoulders. But all that waiting, such an emotional roller coaster of feelings.  Yes the consultnt is doing right, i dont think the GP explained the process correctly, It could have been worded correctly.

Me, well im still waiting........... I'm back at work this week so trying to bury my head in all the paperwork.

    I will keep you updated.

    Thank you for your support.

    Best wishes Nikki xx

  • Hi Laney

Can you tell me did the womb lining biopsy hurt. I have mine in three days and fee panicked. Thank you

  • Hi there, so sorry to hear your ordeal. Sadly, iv been told I have thickening of the womb plus a ton of nasty symptoms and need a biopsy of womb lining. My question is... I'm worrying, does the procedure hurt. Honesty is what I'm looking for. Thank you

  • I feel for you love, I'm at the same stage, I have to have a womb biopsy and have to say, dreading it. Have you had this, does it hurt

  • Thank you, you don't know how your post has helped me!! I'm in total panick, not about any results but about the "thickening womb biopsy"

Just the thought of it hurting is awful, that's because iv had cervical pre cancer cells in the past and the biopsies were very very screamable painful, therefore I'm dreading this procedure, please tell me more how it was for you. I have it done on 11/11/2019 maybe you won't see this by then, but hopefully you may, thank you x

  • hi

my womb lining biopsy did not hurt, just slightly uncomfortable, like a crampy feeling and a slight tug of the lining, told to `cough` when took sample.

hope all goes ok for you

  • Hi Peapaluka

I had my biopsy 3 weeks ago. They had first tried taking a sample without anasthetic and i did feel pain during the procedure but it was afterwards when i had a lot of cramping pain. Unfortuneately they didnt take enough sample so i had to endure the same procedure a week later. They wanted to remove a polyp and insert the mirena. The consultant said i needed an anasthetic so i had a choice of an epidural or general anasthetic. I opted for the epidural. There was very little pain. Procedure lasted about 20 minutes. It was done in an operating theatre. You get to see everything on the monitor. They removed the polyp and took sample of the womb lining and then inserted the mirena coil. I did not suffer the cramping pain afterwards. I am still bleeding/spotting 3 weeks later.

I was fast tracked because my ultrasound report showed i had thickening of the womb. The lining was 16mm. But, when i was in the operating room i asked the consultant if the liningvwas unusually thick and she said no the lining wasnt too thick. It was only thick where the polyp was.

Please feel free to ask me any questions and dont fear the procedure because its a means of identifying what the problem is. If anything is identified then a plan can be put into place for treatment.

I wish everyone all the best who are on this journey.

    Nikki x
