New diagnosis: was diagnosed with ER positive breast cancer in December, now it's turned malignant

Hello

I was diagnosed with ER positive breast cancer in dec, had 3 chemos and everything was going really well. I did have a leison on my spine they were keeping a look at. ANyways half way through treatment started with a pain in my side they thought I’d pulled a muscle, but I could also feel this thing on my spine getting bigger. Had an MRI  and now it’s turned malignant. All my medication is changing and I will be on them indefinitely.

so it doesnt look like I am going to ring the bell after all. I am utterly heartbroken and really struggling to come to terms with it. I am 45 two kids and all my life ahead of me. I have literally cried for 5 days solid and I was always so positive. I am scared this time and don’t know what to do with thee emotions xx

  • Hi Annette I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  It must feel terrifying for you.  I know what you mean about not ringing the bell.  Like you I have metastatic breast cancer with tumors (bone mets) in pelvis, spine, ribs and skull.   I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 47 and now 12 years later it has raised its ugly head again.  I am on Ribociclib , Denosumab and Exemastane along with Tramadol and cyclizine.  This will be for life or until it stops working and then they will change to something else.  I am currently on my sixth cycle and to be honest the side effects havent been too bad.  You still have a life in front of you (a different life) but still a life.  You might want to join the Macmillan forum, there is one for breast cancer and one for incurable cancer - patients only.  Also the Macmillan nurses are brilliant.  It would be good if you could talk to someone to get some help with your emotions.  I had counselling that Macmillan arranged for me and it helped.  It also helps me tremendously to talk to people on the forums who understand (we are all on the journey at different stages). even writing things on the forum makes me feel better.  Sorry for rambling I just wanted you to know that you are not alone and there is help out there.  Please keep in touch.

  • Hi lee

I am so sorry to hear this. Life can be so unfair. I am on injections too and same medication as you. I have just had another MRI as I had a pain in my side for sometime but was told it was a strain. I just hope it hasn’t spread anywhere else.

thanks for messaging and yes I will keep in touch. You take care

    love Annette
