Prostate cancer spread to bones

My husband was diagnosed yesterday 5/12/23 with prostate cancer and they think that it has spread to his bones ,is anybody in the same situation as ourselfs. we have also been told so many times not to have chemo am at my wits end we dont know how long he has or anything

  • Hello Links and welcome to the forum though not somewhere anyone wants to be, so sorry to hear of your dads diagnosis and how it is affecting you, everyone is frightened, It it is a difficult thing to process having cancer, especially at the beginning with all the uncertainty around testing and results, and you naturally at times think the worst. It will get a little easier when all your dads results are in and treatment starts and you start the fight back against this horrible disease, Good luck with the biopsy and i hope results are kind. take care.

  • Thank you  Eddie, I appreciate your kindness

  • Good PSA reduction. Let us know how you get on the the consultant tomorrow and what he suggests for ongoing treatment. It would be interesting to know what the consultant expects the PSA to get down to and how long it may take.

  • Hey

Now on Aberatone & Olbarib & Steroids as well as Deglerix (excuse the spelling) so far so good, not too many side effects yet! If they don’t reduce the PSA again then we are back to Chemo once more! Next appointment 20/2 to see how it’s working.. Hope your husbands still doing well!

  • Hi sticher just to keep you updated my hubby starts chemo on the 23/2/24 called docetaxel and also starts a HT tablet along side the HT injections Daralutamide  tablets he is fit and healthy at the moment i am just hoping that he isnt to bad after chemo hope you are doing ok jackie

  • Hi woodywood.  Good to hear from you and that your hubby has decided on his choice of treatment.  I just had my 3rd chemo session this afternoon and as with the other two it went smoothly. I have no doubt that I made the right decision as couldn’t see the point of not killing off as much cancer cells as possible to give other drugs a fighting chance. Time will tell.  My PSA now .30 - last was .44.  Main after effect for me - not feeling able to get enough sleep.

  • Hi Woodywood1, my husband had docetaxel last year and did quite well. Lost hair but very few other side effects. Hope all goes well for your husband. Thinking of you
