Unsupportive ex husband

Hi

this is my first time posting here. I was diagnosed with grade 2 lobular breast cancer in Dec 2021. It was a sock and I am still ckk ok Ming to terms with it. My ex husband and I decided to make a go at getting back together last April. However, when he visited last Christmas me and my grown up children, I asked if he could come over ( he is Northern Ireland) I am in London once my surgery date is confirmed, he said flat out that he cannot and there is no way he can. Yesterday I confirmed date and he said he has lot of client appointments and he may be able or not to come. Then he confirmed that he was coming but a day before surgery and returning the day after the surgery. Also, when I confirmed that it was Breast C he said: oh well it could have been a lot worse (it was early detection). I prayed to god to show me that this man still loves me, I guess not. Excuse grammar spelling etc it's 0400 in the morning and cannot sleep. Lydia (lily)

  • I had a cone biopsy for breast lump last tue the doctor said it looked like cancer. Since then I have been out of my mind and not eaten or slept. Can any one advise me on how I get though the next 3 days , and  what the doctor will say , ie will they have a plan .

  • Hi Moseley, I'm so sorry that you are going through this. My diagnosis was nearly one year ago, Somehow I got through the waiting time, but I was in some other world. I couldn't sit still, and the house was cleaned from top to toe. I was running on nervous energy. I knew enough women who had been diagnosed and survived to know that there would be a defined treatment plan. I rang the Macmillan helpline, and the nurse told me what options they would likely take, and based on what I knew (tumour size at that point). They are excellent and so are worth ringing if you feel that you can do that. I remember feeling better after that.  My treatment plan did go down one of the routes that she suggested. I received my results in the breast clinic, and my surgeon outlined my plan there and then. A few days later, a PICC line was put in, and I started chemo. That might not be your route though. You might not need chemo. But my plan started very quickly, and I was grateful for that. Surgery came afterwards. . Certainly, I got the impression that they knew what they were doing, and they did. If you have had a biopsy they will have a lot of information in front of them, as several tests will have been run, such as if the biopsy is oestrogen and herceptin positive for example. Mine was oestrogen positive. Your treatment plan will be based on that.
I hope this answers your question a little. X
