Spent 3 hours at the hospital yesterday on a demystifying chemo day. It was helpful, learnt more about white and red cells and platelets and lots of other info. Also saw the chemo treatment room. Chatted to the wig lady, so feel a bit more in control and what to expect.
it's a bit difficult for us as all my previous treatment, scans and masectomy were 20 mins from us, but chemo is 1 hour away. It also means going twice every 3 weeks, once to see the oncologist and once for the treatment. Found out that chemo patients get parking for £2. It cost us £8.20 yesterday, but a small price to pay for all the NHS treatment. My 1st chemo is next week, I need to buy a new thermometer as mine is quite old and look up good food to take as snacks to chemo. Any suggestions, with nausea in mind? I shall report back with my experience of chemo, I am having FEC drugs for breast cancer.
Telling myself I shall sail through it without too many side effects, but no doubt will experience some. Infection seems to be the nurses main concern, but have numbers to ring if at all concerned.
