Hello My Dear Forum Friends ......
Gosh, I have been so poorly and unable to function at all. I thought the news had just struck me in a very strange way but it seems that the 30/500 Co-codamol I was prescribed on the 9th (took for 5days) just affected me very badly - I couldnt keep awake, thoroughly confused etc. Has anyone else reacted on high dose co-codamol? Wont be taking them again ha ha!
I saw a lovely lady consultant on Tuesday who wants to do cyberknife treatment on the brain tumour asap. There is an MDT meeting on Wednesday, so I should find out if I can have it then. If so, there are 3/4 appointments to plot the treatment and make the mask, then radiotherapy is given in one dose - so it will probably be around 3 weeks away. Meanwhile I am on steroids to help any swelling in the brain.
I definitely think I would like the treatment if it is offered because where my tumour is it could imminently affect my mobility, sight and speech. I dont want to be incapacitated for what may be months. So now we have all got to pray that the treatment is offered and is done in time! Surrendering my driving licence today was a sad feeling and I am feeling a little sorry for myself particularly as where I live (a small village) there is very sparce bus activity! My looks and independence are now just memories but when I see my lovely family and friends all rallying round to support me I feel very blessed to still be with them!
Thank you all so very much once again - your messages mean the world to me.
Just a little PM for Jo (Meerkat) if she reads this: I hope you are feeling okay after your op and will look forward to a quick one-liner email to know how you are when you feel up to it! I have been thinking about you and sending love.
Keep safe everyone x
Hi Max, good to hear from you and also pleased to hear that efforts are being made to offer you treatments that will help you to continue to have quality of life. I will certainly join you in prayer that they give you the treatment in record time and that it does the trick. I must make a note of that drug you were on in case it lands in my medicine cabinet at some point. I always like to be prepared.
When I read your sentence about giving up your driver's licence, my heart sank for you. As far as feeling sorry for yourself, you have earned the right. I know that losing that just adds another challenge to this fight and a loss of independence. That would, (and might someday) be for me a major blow as I really value my independence. I can relate dear friend.
Keep us posted on how things develop for you and also if you need to rant and shout, we're here to listen. Better us than your poor hubby wearing it. LOL
Take care. Lots of hugs.
Lorraine
Lovely Max
Keeping you in my thoughts and hope the Cyberknife can be agreed for you when your next appointment comes round. You are one plucky lady and deserve to spend as much time with the family as you are able.
I don't drive but know hubby did not like being unable to use his car but spending time with the family and being comfortable with your ongoing treatment options is enough to be going on with. He also had 'spaced out' reaction early on in treatment with co-codomol and was switched off it within a few days when he reported back to his 'support team' though my daughter had no such problems when used in relation to a bad back - like so many drugs, good for some and not for others.
Take care gutsy lady. Jules (big virtual hugs too)xx
Hello Max bless you, I hope you get the treatment that works for you and love to your lovely family too thank god for family eh ,you have been through so much already and hope this next battle can be won ,fingers crossed .Sueanne Xx
hi flower how has your day been, I send all my best wish`s and love thinking of you allways take care kind regards and lots of love, george
Hi Max,
My Mum had exactly the same reaction as you to the high dosage Co-Codamol – they put her on something else and the side effects disappeared. My brother and I were on the same ones for slipped disks without side effects, so I guess you have been unlucky.
Best wishes
Dave
