Hi i have been on this site for a while but havent really got into the chatting, just reading. A friend of mine told me to get on here and that it would help me as you are all very supportive. I was diagnosed in Dec 09 with breast cancer, i had surgery, reconstuction, 6 chemo, 5 weeks of radio therapy and i am currently on tamoxifen.
I would love to chat with you all as i dont know where my head is at. I have a young son too, and trying to cope with things day to day is a struggle for me. AS some of you have said i am also very tired and i have no energy. I was looking for some advice. I have to back to my onogologist on Wednesday and some of you have said about getting a bone scan, do you think i should ask about this as my ankles ans wrists get extremely sore at times, but my gp said it was a side effecty from the tamoxifen, but i am now so worried in case this has spread to my bones. Can some help me as i have asked the doctors about the statistics of cancer coming back, and i do realise that no one can say if i will get secondary cancer, but unfotunately stories that i have read not only on this site but on other sites, women that i have talked to or read about who had grade 2 breast cancer and a similar experience to me all seem to have had a secondary cancer. i would love to chat with you and find out your experiences as i have myself so worried and i woukld love to hear from you all. Thanks and love to you all.

Hi- I am new to this and have been a keen supporter of breast cancer research as I had been carer for a family friend of mine, who had fought breast cancer for 12 years and sadly passed away last year after the breast cancer relapsed.. She tried everything but I was annoyed at times when oncologists wasnt able to give any help/guidance beyond chemo etc..
However, one thing that kept her going was that she attended yoga lessions at Haven Group in Bristol - it made her feel less stress and tired and that was what kept her going... I just had another friend who was diagnosed with grade1 breast cancer and had a surgery, she had been practising for yoga for years but find that she cant do her normal practice but she still wants to do something from home - are there any yoga resources - books/yoga instructors/videos that she willl be able to use/ find useful? I tried contacting Haven but they only provide lessons in the centre..
Oh you poor baby, I've just read your last posting, night sweats and a urine infection - you could be my twin....just took so many antibiotics to clear the infection I ended up with thrush, and as for the night sweats!!! I'm going to move into the spare room, that bed has a normal pocket sprung mattress, the marital bed is a top of the range memory foam - worst thing we ever bought, yes it's comfy but it holds the heat, no good to me now.
Hope you get a bit of relief soon

hi Tony and you all lovely ladies. Its been a while since i posted. I thought of you all many times but i must admit i was in a bad place. Its been eighteen weeks since my treatment started and finally this last Friday was my last chemo. I was feeling very bad with the last three that now to be honest i thought i wont make it. It was terrible watching my family going trough so much pain especially my two little boys who have show me yet again that giving up is not an option. My dear people we are all different but i can not forget your support and your spirit. For that Thank you all. On the 13th of December i will start radio for three weeks five days each week and after that is herceptin. The journey is far from over i know and unfortunately still fighting the infection inside my wound but i had brilliant support from people around me and from all of you and that makes huge difference. I am finally feeling better and i wanted to share that with you. I hope i wasnt bothering you. using my phone and being three in the morning i probably sound like lost soul lol. Let of know how you all doing. What is happening. I hope from the bottom of my heart that you are all doing well. Lots of love to you all. M
Hi Maki,
You'll be glad that that's one hoop jumped through - emotionally my 5th chemo was my worst, the 6th and final, not much better, but you do rally quickly from it. I to had 5 weeks of daily radio therapy, a round trip of about 70 miles as I had to travel to Glasgow, I managed to work and get my radio for the first 4 weeks but took the 5th week off so I could sleep longer. There are fewer side effect, for me anyway, than the chemo, but be prepared to be KNACKERED, I took 2 months off work in total, but still get tired now, and I'm only back 3 days a week. Keep your chin up, one more hoop to go then you're there, just rest when you can.
Keep posting and let us know how you're doing.

Hello Maki
So glad to hear from you and that the chemo has finished. You will feel tired whilst having the rads, but there is light at the end of the tunnel at last. I know you still have to have the herceptin, but honestly it gets easier from now on. I had my last herceptin on the 6th October and am feeling loads better now, so keep going girl you can do it! Try not to do too much over Christmas, sit back and let others do the work - if that is possible??
Loads of hugs
