Hi Jennie I am so sorry to read this.  Can they not try a different type of chem to reduce the size of the tumour.?  I had a lumpectomy then chemo and then radiotherapy.  My tumour was quite big at 4cm but because I have large breasts they could do the lumpectomy.  I know what you mean, cancer can feel very lonely.  Are you having reconstruction at the same time?  Good luck for your operation next week, please let me know how you get on.

Hi leelaloo No they cant try a different chemo as the cancer hasnt reacted to this one and has gotten bigger as its a hormone cancer that was caused by my contraceptive implant and even though this has been removed my own hormones are now feeding it so the only option is to remove the breast and lymph nodes and then I will be going onto medication to block the hormones and also radiotherapy which is why they cant do a breast reconstruction right away xx
