Exhausting / hospital admission

So hubby unwell and admitted to local general hospital on a weekend

Exhausting repeating nope he is on this much morphine.....check his notes

Having to be his advocate politely firm

Nurses kind and doing their best but still what does someone with no one to voice for them do?

Not sure whats going on but cant have scan and camera cos its weekend!

Frustrating....at least pain meds situation has been resolved after 24 hours  ..

Advice polite firm and dont be shy of standing up for loved ones.

  • Good morning RB.  I am sorry to hear about the trouble you are having over the weekend with the hospital.  You really must be exhausted by now.  I am hoping that your husband is at least comfortable and has sufficient pain relief.  Hopefully he will be able to have the necessary tests after the bank holiday weekend.  Sending you massive hugs and take care of yourself.

  • Hi Lee

    Thank you for your support

Been quite productive with several tests done today the nurse was amazed....might be I had the opportunity to tell consultant a few things .....ummmmmmm

    Or fluke who knows

Hubby bit brighter today fingers crossed

Take care of yourself too ...

This cancer business is a ......insert any word you feel appropriate.

Sending kindness and strength to you RB

  • Hi RB hope you and your husband were both able to get a good night sleep.  Hope your hubby has another good day today.  So glad that they were able to get some tests done and fingers crossed it is the best possible news that it can be.  Yes cancer is awful and I don't seem to leave it behind anywhere.  It follows me wherever I go.  I am on palliative treatment but I am lucky that I can still do my normal every day things (mostly).  Hopefully today you will be able to take a moment for yourself and perhaps sit in the sunshine for a while.  Sending you hugs and know that I am thinking of you.

  • Hello Lee

Thank you for thinking of us and sharing your experiences. .

It really is good that you can do the things you want to do .

Hubby was brighter today and that was good to see. He too is palliative and until few weeks ago still pottering about....

The rotten cancer has taken hold more aggressively now hence where he is at.

But we will keep strong and be with him all the way ...

Having such amazingly kind support from you and Ed has helped more than I can say

So keep going Lee wring every last ounce out of life...each moment is precious .

    Kind wishes

    RB

  • Hi RB,

You sound like you are a wonderful advocate for your husband.
I am new to the caring role and didn’t realise how exhausting and time consuming it can be.
My husband has oesophageal cancer and had his big operation almost four weeks ago. It has sapped all his energy and strength. It is hard to witness someone you love suffer ,as you must know.

I have been overwhelmed with the amount of care I am expected to provide. I have multiple myeloma, on second line of treatment. When I came home from hospital after treatment last week, I had to make tea, wash up, sort his pain meds and blood thinners and overnight feed pump.

Hope today is going kindly for you
