Sleep - what's that?

It's 4:30 am and yet again I have been up since 3am unable to sleep. This started last year when I was diagnosed 4 days before Christmas with Thyroid / neck cancer.

I manage to cry myself to sleep most nights wondering what i have done to deserve this then 3 am wide awake.

17th jan - total thyroid removal with right lymph node gone and now find out that it's spread to right shoulder.

If someone can suggest a natural remedy to sleep better , I can try lwould be grateful.

  • I am the same awake at this time of the night  from 2am… every night ! Struggling to sleep.
Tried everything chamomile tea, hot chocolate, banana before bed, hot bath, pillow spray…

  • Hi, It's annoying to say the least isn't it? Doesn't matter if I vary going to bed time 3 am and I'm up.

    All the best

  • Hi Marty, Olivia and Michelle, diagnosed nearly 2 years ago, terminal, went 15 months on 2 hours a night. Like you guys tried everything, sleepio, sleepstation, drinks, hypnotherapy and meds and the only effect they had on me, "the meds", was a couple of trips to A+E. Then was offered counselling and a relaxation therapy course which turned things around for me, along with a cup of blackstrap molasses once a day, so now i sleep 5 to6 hours most nights. The relaxation course was at Maggies, www.maggies.org you can do it in a group or online, counselling arranged by Macmillan at my hospice. take care.

  • I am suffering the same with sleep as I waiting for my Prostrate Cancer op on the 08/03. This leads to fatigue and I need to be fit and ready for my surgery. I have tried taking Calms that my wife got me but I like to have a audio book on in the background to try and help me relax and then eventually fall asleep. But still only getting 4-5 a night. I hope all goes well with you
