Feeling lonely

Hello. I have never been on this site before. I have breast cancer 3rd time. Its treatable but not curable. I live alone in North London and feel very alone. Since my diagnosis last October, life is just pills and hospital visits. The medication has made me unwell. I'm very anxious right now as this week they ate trying a new one on me. I was so unwell on the last meds, I'm dreading the effects again.

I'm sure we can be of comfort to each other.

                Kind regards

    HI Kindandcaring,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear about this latest diagnosis. I am on bout number 2 and live with the fear of being diagnosed with a third. Do you have any interests other those that have been cast upon you? Having a life filled with hospital visits and pills is a definite prescription for loneliness and depression.

I hope that you have better luck with your new meds, as it is difficult to do anything else when you are feeling so unwell. Have you tried attending any of the local cancer charities? There will be several of these close to you, which your hospital or health centre may be able to recommend. Some of the larger charities, such as Maggies or The Haven can offer a cup of tea and a chat, alternative therapies, which are free of charge, counselling services, financial advice, walking groups, etc. You would possibly meet other people here who are in a similar situation to yourself and make friendships that would overcome your lonliness.

Joining a special interest or community group would also do the same. I do hope that you are well enough to take part in some of these services. If not, there are also various befriending services, where people can visit you in your own home or talk to you over the internet or mobile phone.

You will also find that there is no need to be lonely now that you have found this forum, as there is always someone here who is willing to talk to you.

Please keep in touch and remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,
