Hi Willvio2224  I am sorry to hear about your husband's diagnosis.  I have stage 4 cancer which is treatable not curable and having palliative treatment.  I would like to say that you are certainly not wrong in wanting your own time.  In fact it is very important that you have time to yourself.  I think his kids are being unreasonable and I hope you don't mind me saying that they seem to be shifting the responsibility solely to you which is not fair.  You cannot be with someone 24/7 without it affecting your mental health.  You certainly need time to destress and have you time.  I am looking it from the opposite way as you.  I would never want my husband to just have no life other than being with me.  I encourage him to go out and do his own things sometimes as it is important to get away and leave the cancer behind even if it is for an hour or two.  So you are not wrong.  Sorry for the long ramble.
