Hormone therapy for prostate cancer

Hi,I was diagnosed 8 years ago with prostate cancer.

I have been on active surveillance until 9 months ago when I started hormone therapy.

The hardest thing at the moment I find is coping with the Fatigue.

Does anyone have the same problem and how do you cope?

  • Hi Bracey and welcome to the forum, though sorry you have to be here, unfortunately almost everyone on hormone therapy for prostate cancer suffers from fatigue and the best, maybe the only way through it is exercise, It's not important what you do so long as you are doing something and try to do a little more each time and you will get through it and feel much better physically and emotionally, It may take a while but keep at it, it will be worth it. at my low point I could walk maybe 30 yards and the stair were a challenge, but in a couple of months the stairs were not a problem and could walk for 30 minutes and now i have no issues. best wishes.

  • Hi Bracey,   welcome, I have been on slow release hormones for nearly two years now, and oral hormone for 8 months.

As Eddie recommends exercise and stay active. I have a physical outdoor job and would love to be able to sit down and sleep but I can't.

Being active is the best thing to do no matter how difficult.

    Good luck,  Justin.

  • Thank you for your reply.

I try to keep as active as possible, but can't do as much as I used to,but as they say every little helps.

I have broken sleep too, night sweats and obviously up for the loo.

    Finding the sweats really annoying!

  • Bracey,   I’ve been on 50mg Androcur daily for the sweats, really works well.
