Pancreatic Cancer

Hello everyone, this has taken me so much to write this.

I rushed my dad to a&e on father's day 2021 and I lost him two days later. He had a scan 3 weeks before he died and heard nothing but when they called me in to tell Dad what was going on with his body they told us it was pancreatic cancer and it had spread to lymph nodes and spleen. I never knew that this was happening to my dad as his gp kept telling him it was ibs and it was his fault for not eating alot.

I was with him when he past and he became very upset due to the level of acid in his body it started to make him very sick. Then his breathing changed then I heard the death rattle and that was it. Gone.

I am now completely broken I am glad Dad wasn't in severe pain for long but my dad was Peter Pan super healthy and it was so quick and I can't seem to get myself going again.

I'm reaching out hoping I'm not on my own really.

Thank you for taking the time to read

I'm very sorry to hear about your father. My mum also died of pancreatic cancer in March, so I understand your situation. Mum had been having various vague symptoms such as lower back pain, late onset diabetes, fainting episodes etc for a few years, but time and time again nothing specific was picked up by the G.P, and well, mum was a very stoic person anyway.

In February, she stopped eating and had tremendous stomach pains, the doctor said it was a urine infection and four days later after three ambulance call-outs, she was taken to hospital. After a week of tests, she was diagnosed with inoperable terminal pancreatic cancer that had spread to the stomach. She died about 4 weeks after that and was in severe pain for the last week of her life as the hospital could not control the pain.

You are not alone. Take care.
