Pancreatic Cancer

Hello everyone, this has taken me so much to write this.

I rushed my dad to a&e on father's day 2021 and I lost him two days later. He had a scan 3 weeks before he died and heard nothing but when they called me in to tell Dad what was going on with his body they told us it was pancreatic cancer and it had spread to lymph nodes and spleen. I never knew that this was happening to my dad as his gp kept telling him it was ibs and it was his fault for not eating alot.

I was with him when he past and he became very upset due to the level of acid in his body it started to make him very sick. Then his breathing changed then I heard the death rattle and that was it. Gone.

I am now completely broken I am glad Dad wasn't in severe pain for long but my dad was Peter Pan super healthy and it was so quick and I can't seem to get myself going again.

I'm reaching out hoping I'm not on my own really.

Thank you for taking the time to read

  • Hi Danni

I am so sorry for your loss and how you are feeling. My mum passed away suddenly and I was there when she went as well. It's not something you easily forget is it. What I would say is how amazing it is we were able to be there with them to ease their way on. I'm sure your dad would have been so comforted by the simple fact you were there with him.

It is a huge shock to the system but what I've found has helped me is by thinking of things like that, and trying to remember them mostly when they were well. My mum spent 70 years of her life relatively healthy so there are lots of lovely memories to choose from. It will take time adjusting to them not being there so please be kind and patient with yourself too.

    Good luck x
