The awful waiting game

I've been reading lots of posts over the last few days so thought I'd take the plunge and join in.

I'm 44, happily married, no kids and until 5 March all I had to contend with was anxiety and associated depression. Then I decided to mention the mild discomfort on my right side to my GP, she suspected gallstones so the next day (!!) I had an ultrasound and yes I had a 4cm gallstone but the sonographer also found two 'abnormalities' on my liver and one in my pancreas. Blood tests showed my liver was under stress but tumour markers for pancreas, liver and colon tested negative.

I've got a CT scan day after tomorrow. My follow-up appointment isn't until 8 April. That feels like a long, long time.
Thanks for reading this and if you are also in this horrible limbo - you're not alone. Xx

  • Hi I am also on the anxious 'waiting' list, I had a bronscophy yesterday and have to wait for biopsies to come back.

The wait is the worst, once we know what we have to deal with we can start to sort our heads out.

The hardest for me is I like to speak openly to air my feelings unfortunately my husband doesn't like to talk about it and I feel so alone until I know the outcome and can tell my daughter. - she will talk to me.

    stay strong..........

  • Hi, How are you doing today?
It is difficult sharing how you actually feel isn't it. When my husband asks how I'm feeling I want to pretend I'm fine to save him worry. I'm working hard to not do that.
Have you heard about any outcome yet? We've decided not to tell our families until we have some definite news. My appointment to discuss my CT scan has been moved forward to tomorrow. Now I wish it was still next week to just have a bit more time before I have to face reality.
    Sending you positive vibes :)

  • I am waiting for mid afternoon today - I hope by the end of today I will have something more definitive to work with.  We’ll be seeing our son and daughter tomorrow - it’s the bit I’m dreading most.

I don’t think anyone other than someone who has in this position could ever imagine how we feel and it is too hard to try and explain.

stay strong and fingers crossed for you

  • Thinking of you and rooting for you. Xx
