Hi, I hope you get seen and that it turns out to be something simple.  Mine was something I found in the shower, it didnt feel right, sort of hard irregular lump like gristle under the skin, and it made me wince when I touched it, gp described it as exquisitely painful, Id nearly hit him when he examined it. It was described in clock terms as position at 1`1 oclock, so in upper part of breast, Id had to have an implant when I was 18 due to a birth defect in my chest wall, so have never been normal, but I knew it wasnt right, and after two weeks wait I got mammogram and ultrasound, the two doctors at excellent breast clinic thought it suspicious from the scan etc, so offered biopsy, got result 10 days later, it was stage 2 invasive, and because of the implant it was either mastectomy or mastectomy and reconstruction in same op. Not suitable for radiotherapy, oe lunpectormy so I had mastectomy with recon, and am now waiting for further investigations as they put me on aromatase inhibitors to reduce risk of recurrence, and Im having a lot of aches and pains. The waiting is scary, but the treatment options are good and you did absolutley the right thing by getting checked and getting referred I dont know where you live but our local hospital has a specialist breast unit, I went in yesterday to see my surgeon at request of the breast nurse to address some queries, and it was brilliant, hand gel at the entrance, a box of masks to pick from. staff had masks, and aprons, and it all felt very safe, only patients allowed in, others had to wait in car park.  I hope you get some answers soon, never be afraid to ask questions on here, its a mine of supportive information from people who  have been and are going through it.

Hi Annie's sorry you are having to go through this experience . You sound young too and with young children it is very scary I know . I had bowel cancer at 32 and pushed for 18 months to get seen . I had to pay private in the end . I did have cancer and I survived even though they thought I wouldn't x my son was 2.5 years and my daughter 12 and like you are dying now you just can't look at them without that awful feeling . My daughter had cervical cancer at 28 after she had had her baby boy - he was 5 months old and she went they the same . My heart went out to her and I would gladly have gone through it all for her . She is 6 years on now . 3 years ago I had my second mammogram and a tiny lump was detected . You could not see it unless under a microscope. I had it removed and treatment - chemo , etc and am okay . I want you to know that you aren't alone . It all feels so scary doesn't it but honestly the not knowing and the waiting really is the hardest part . You have done exactly to right thing in pushing your gp to look into this for you . It a is also a very brave thing to do . Sending you a big hug x
