i have had the same results through the post a few days ago from my smear in early December and I too can't think of anything else. I'm worried sick I keep googling things and keep crying at the prospect of having cancer and not being able to watch my little girl grow up and leaving her without her mummy! I hope you are ok and got good results! With COVID it's saying my appointment for xoposcopy should arrive within 8 weeks and I'm freaking out at having to worry about this for so long!  I had to reply because it's like everyone keeps saying you will be fine done worry it's common and I feel like the high risk Hpv is making it so much more frightening for me

You're me! It's spooky. Except with a young son. Same thing, early Dec had a smear, just got letter today to say HPV positive and "changes" I called my dr who told me they were "borderline"... which is better I guess? But I don't know and don't want to Google TOO much. It also said 8 weeks for colposcopy on my letter, which seems forever - BUT my doctor said it hadn't been put through as an emergency in that case - so I guess that's a good thing for us? I hope anyway. Xx

Hiya! Just wanted to check in and see how things are? Just wanted to update too because I couldn't find many conclusions to any of the "omg I have borderline changes and postitve HPV too" posts in furious googling :)  today I had my colposcopy and all is fine! He was happy for me to go and then just get another smear in 12 months time. I'll get them more regularly now until I get 2 clear smears in a row apparently. 
 

Have everything crossed for everyone who had the same smear results. 
 

I should also add some words of reassurance for anyone googling. Stop googling, I found a post that gave me a bit of hope and then stopped searching so I didn't stress too much :) When I spoke to my Dr after I got my results she kept repeating to me "this is absolutely not cancer, that's not what the result means. Please don't worry!" Also, "borderline" is the bottom end of the scale according to the consultant I saw today so that filled me with a bit of hope before I actually got the colposcopy.

Your posts describes everything I am feeling since receiving my results yesterday.As it was saturday I couldnt call anyone and so, of course I spent best part of the last 24hrs crying. I am HPV positive and have borderline changes, my worry is I get period like aches very often which now I am obviously overthinking.

As someone said everyone tells you 'dont worry' but obviously you do!I am petrified to be reading stuff that suggests this could be begining of the C journey I have to very young kids and just looking at them makes me cry as I cant imagine not to see them grow up :( 

Its nice to read about those who had a good outcome so  I will find hope in those posts and try to stop Googling.

Hi anya. I'm so sorry you got the same result, and you're right - it's impossible not to worry! I knew my life insurance policy inside out, that's how stressed I was. It's been awful. I think the important thing to takeaway is that this isn't the beginning of the road for the big C, this is the beginning of the road for PREVENTING something that MIGHT turn into the big C. Borederline is good, like my consultant reassured me, it's the very bottom end of the "scale" and it's what they say sometimes just to err on the side of caution, turns out when I was checked there didn't appear to be any changes at all.

Also, weirdly the aches - I've had that the last 2/3 months too. I can't say why - I've had a scan. It's almost like In both my ovaries - my Dr thinks it's suddenly ovulation pain but I'm not convinced! I'm 34, I know what ovulation pain feels like! Whatever it is, it's not related to to my HPV results for sure. Jury is still out on that one, but it's hard not to analyse everything.I suspect I have endometriosis to be honest, my sister does. 
 

I hope you get some solace in my story, and now that I feel safer googling I can see that for most people, this is how the result turns out for most people!

Hi ladies, I went through similar last year. Had my smear and came back hpv positive, and borderline changes. I get hip/back and abdomen pain too. I was completely  freaked out by it and couldn't stop googling. My mum had died of cancer the year before too so it just sent me into a total spiral. It is a long process being told, then waiting for the colposcopy, then the results from that(mine was Jul-Nov). Mine eventually came back that I have CIN 1 changes so need to go back within 12 months to get checked again. 

It is so worrying and easy to tell you not to worry. I would say as everyone else says, this isn't cancer! Borderline changes can take up to 10 years to turn into cancer, and they may just disappear all together. Just try and relax as much as possible. When I spoke to friends about it too, so many had gone through similar. It's really good they do this and taking these preventative measures. There are others going through this, please don't feel alone. I really hope you get your appointments and good results soon. Sending lots of positive vibes.

Hi reading all these posts has helped a lot with all the info and support being offered up!!

So I recently had my very first smear test, which wasn't a big deal because about 5 months ago I had a coil fitted! However I got my results back Friday saying that I had tested positive for HPV and had low grade abnormal cells. Before the coil my periods were regular like clockwork 28-29 day cycles but since have had some spotting in between my periods, a tiny bit of bleeding after sex and the last one was 5 days late but I presumed that was normal and due to the coil so thought nothing of it and didn't mention it when I went for my smear. Now I'm really worried that it was a sign I should have flagged up with the nurse at my smear and have to wait at least 3 weeks to hear about my hospital referral. Which feels like an eternity but I know a lot of people had to wait much longer over the past year due to COVID.

My Dad was diagnosed with HPV related cancer about a year and ½ ago so obviously a big worry after seeing him go through so much.

I'm just really worried it's going to be bad news and not sure what to do with myself in the mean time

Hey! I've just recieved the same results after my first smear - on my letter it said I had borderline changes and that the doctors have requested an appointment for me but it doesn't say how long this will take. Do you think 8 weeks is the norm?

Hi I got a letter Saturday and my appointment came through today. Freaking out as never had an abnormal result and had hysterectomy years ago. Trying to be positive but as a pessimist it's a challenge x

Hi there. Glad to hear all went well at your recent colposcopy. I have had three smears all HPV postive. Most recent said cells were normal, but the one before had boarderline cell changes. At my colposcopy they said all looked fine, so like you have been discharged and told to have a smear in 3 years. They didn't even take a biopsy - did they with you? So glad all seems to look okay but I'm just wondering whether I should still be having annual smears as I still have the HPV? Thanks so much <3

Love to all and thanks for this wonderful forum, reading through these stories has made me feel much less alone and has put my mind at ease. two years ago when was told HPV positive, and then the cell changes, mind was in a real spin. I think it's great all the awareness of the virus etc. but the negative is it's seen a bit like THE CANCER VIRUS now, whereas actually it's very common, often goes away on its own, and just needs careful monitoring to be safe and make sure it doesn't progress (hence me wondering about annual smears...)

I'm going through this high risk hpv and abnormal cells I've just had really heavy bleeding n lower back pain even though on pill I'm terrified got coloscopy 10th feb scared to death 

Hi, I've had exactly the same result and symptoms last year I was diagnosed in May 2021, luckily, I had private medical insurance cover because of work so I saw a private gynaecologist (she is a consultant in the NHS too). The result was high risk HPV positive and low grade dyskarosis, and also mature and immature changed to squamous cells in the cervix, it all showed up on a cervical biopsy. I'm worried because I'm only 22. This year in May I'm supposed to have another colposcopy and maybe another cervical biopsy if the cervix still looks abnormal, I got a feeling nothing has changed and it has gone worse because of the pain I get down below. I suffer from a condition down below called lichen sclerosus and also polycystic ovary syndrome. So I am worried in the same boat as you, hope everyone is going to be okay and get a good result 

I had my colposcopy on Monday, hated everything minute of it. He has taken biopsy and I will know my results in 4 weeks, he said it didn't look cancerous but you never know. So didn't really make me feel any better. Waiting this four weeks is going to a nightmare as I suffer with really bad anxiety anyway. Just hope it's all ok.

Got my apppointment thru for tues after easter but im away so going to see if they will get me another appointment- so will be even longer now...

Trying now not to let it give me too much heaspace or It will drive me insane
