7 year old with lymphoma symptoms

Hi, I'm new to this,  not sure what to say but I'm really concerned about my 7 year old daughter.

The doctor isn't taking me seriously about all the symptoms, saying I'm reading off google. Yes I have read symptoms off google which I didnt realise were relevant until I did read about them. Which is why I took my daughter to the doctors. He agrees that her lynphnodes are swollen in the back of her neck

She had swollen glands in the back of her neck..  pea sized lumps for over 4 months. She often has night sweats where her sheets are drenched in the morning, she has severe itching that causes her to cry and frantically itch, she is particularly tired for a child of her age, would happily sit on the sofa snuggling rather than play with a friend and she has always felt cold even in a heatwave she will be having a breakdown about needing a coat on.

In all honesty I have been made to feel like I am worrying over nothing, which I can handle but I am concerned that there is more to this. She is my middle child of 3 and my other 2 are absolutely nothing like this so I just wanted to hear personal experiences of lymphoma and your personal experiences / symptoms.

I'm sorry if I have posted this in the wrong forum. Km going out of my mind with worry

Thank you x

  • Hi ya...

That sounds horendious... oh my, no wonder your pulling your hair out .. that's not right, no mater how you look at it .. I wish I had a path that would help.. but if it were me, I'd call McMillan and ask for medical advice .. I would complain officially to the N H S  ... I'd write a copy of this letter to my M P though trouble there is the middle of an election .. but I did that once and got the help of my M P ..

ASK those Drs what they would do if this was their child .. I'm afraid it's gonna take getting tough to get them to listen ..  I can't believe they've not taken her in for observation to see for their selfs ..

Get as much info as you can ... write down a daily log of everything .. good or bad .. and give them a copy ...  good luck ...  sending you a vertual hug... Chrissie xx

  • Just got back from the doctors and I actually feel like someone is listening to what I'm saying. Dr said he totally gets what I'm saying and understands why I think she has lymphoma. He thinks it could be something from the same family as glandular fever so more bloods have to be done to rule that out and another chest X-ray. If it isn't what the doctor thinks then his words 'we will nail it once and for all'. So hopefully soon enough we gets some answers x

  • Hi. I know the reply is a little late, but i was wondering if you got anywhere with your daughter?

My 6 year old boy has been back and for hospital for 4 years. Has had pneumonia 3 times recurrent infections frequently and was diagnosed with splenomegaly in 2016. His spleen is abnormally enlarged.

I noticed he had enlarged lymph nodes when he was 4. He had a full body scan and blue dye in his veins to check nodes. They were all big.

Anyway i was told they were enlarged due to an infection somewhere. He has undergone numerous tests for leaukemia blood cancers and cycstic fibrosis and many more. He has had 2 bone marrow biopsies just recently and scans on his lymphnodes and his results has been sent to specialists. We went to see his specialist this week and his lymph node is 6.5cm he has now been made an appt for emergengy removal of his lymph node to be tested for cancer.

I am worried sick now but we have to also wait to be admitted as chemo patients are priority. (Fully understandable)

My son also has been having really bad night sweats. He drenches his bed.

He gets tummy pain even after not eating a lot. (Could be down to his spleen being so enlarged)

He has also been getting achey after walking the dog and he normally had loads of energy

    Thanks any help appreciated

  • Yaxe13, how have you and your son been since you wrote here?

  • I could of wrote that' exact same. My daughter is 2 and going through the exact same! Just been refered to a pediatric oncologist. I'm having a breakdown. Have u got any news yet. I pray for u. My heart is breaking and I bet yours is. How do we stay strong :'( xxxxxxxx

  • I am so sorry you are going through this. My daughter turned out to be absolutely fine. She's 6 now and healthy apart from asthma which has got so much better. How odd that I should find myself back on here though, I was at the hospital with my 14 year old son today due to him getting referred urgently by the dentist last week. Cut a long story short he's got to have a biopsy 'urgently' to check for skin cancer. It's just never ending with worry being a parent. I hope your little one is ok and you get some answers to put your mind at rest xxx

  • I'm so so glad for you but I'm so sorry about your son and I hope he is fine to. It's just me and my daughter so im trying to stay strong. I've read so much about slow growing etc and I've worried myself sick.

she has severe night sweats when she falls asleep and has to sleep with just a nappy and she isn't hot!

ahe has a few lymph nodes in her groin that are just under 1cm but never disappeared.

she doesn't like to walk far she wants to be carried

she wakes up tired no matter how long she sleeps and is tired all day

shes pale white with red cheeks

she gets a cold and then turns into chest infections

    She doesn't eat much

my heart is breaking but I'm being made out to be crazy because I said I don't agree I know somethings wrong :'( she's had an ultra sound but that's all.

did they do some tests with ur daughter, I've read it can't be diagnosed unless they have a biopsy' and they said they can't biopsy Dolcies as it's to small but how do they know she doesn't have others :'( xxxxxxxx Thankyou so much for ur reply it means a lot I'm currently in bed sobbing next to her :'( xx

  • Hi there ...

Sorry another mum is going through such worry ... I'd just say if your instincts are saying somethings wrong then push for total blood tests and cell counts and you can ask for a copy ..

We sadly had my granddaughter symptoms being put down to low iron before 10 months later her dad took her to A and E one night worried sick, and she was rushed up to London who was then diagnosed .. if only we'd pushed her Dr...

Yea hopefully like the other mum your daughter will be fine to ... there can be lots of different things but untill she has full blood count and platelets and clotting factor.... then you will know for sure ... good luck .. go with your gut gently but firmly ... let us know how you go ... Chrissie x

  • Thankyou so much I believe she had lymphoma from everything she is experiencing but no one is listening :( I may ask for a second opinion in London x

  • Hi ... just stay focused ... we hold our kids hands while they grow ... and yes thankfully they are normally o.k .. but only after being listened to ... does she get unexplained bruising ????

Write down every thing she's going through no matter even if trivial ... it's like a jig saw all the pieces may point to getting them tested for everything .... gentle but firm ... stick to saying something is not right ... good luck ... fingers crossed .. but don't let them beat you down ... you got this ... Chrissie....
