I'm going through the same as your dad, having had a single instance of visible blood in my urine.  I've had everything as your father, although my CT and cystoscopy were only two days apart.  I had the cystoscopy results immediately (as I could watch it on the screen) and my CT results took about 4 weeks to come through.

FWIW, my cystoscopy showed a tiny growth in the bladder, which is either a small cancer or benign papilloma. The treatment is the same - a TURBT operation which is scheduled for 10 days time. The CT showed some bladder thickening, possibly due to the growth, and a kidney artery aneurism, which may or may not need treatment. 

No one likes to wait for results, but there is some sense in having the CT results before the cystoscopy. 

How are you doing now? What was the size of your growth do you know? 

It was around 5mm. 

How was yours found? Had you had any symptoms or anything? 

I had one single episode of blood in my urine.  I immediately saw a GP and got a referral to the urology service at the local large hospital.  I had a CT and a cystoscopy.  I would have had a prostate check, but I had that removed in 2010!  The CT found nothing, but the cystoscopy found a tiny growth, like a small seaweed in fish tank.  The doctor estimated its size by comparing it with the cystoscope tube.  The operation was a few weeks later, and only took a day to get over. 

Thank you for the reply! Mine has been explained to me as a polyp ..rather than a mass or tumor ..I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing! And you say you've been clear since found? Hasn't recurred? 

So far, so good.  No recurrence, but no-one can predict the future.

You're also quite young for bladder cancer - I'm now 68! 

But all you can do is wait for the cystoscopy and see what they find. Hopefully, you'll know the worst by the end of the procedure.

Thank you for article! I can only keep everything crossed and hope I guess! I'm beyond scared though! The doctors gave me some meds to help me through..I've been unable to work due to how anxious the whole thing has me 

It's scary, but I've been through cancer twice and come out the other side - somewhat scarred but still here.

You will probably feel better just knowing and having a plan in place. 

The whole waiting has been awful ..I'm worried that it will have grown over the last 3 weeks! The doctors did dip sticks and no blood was picked up on them! Google has not been a good place to turn to :( 

Finding no blood is a good sign, and I don't think it will grow very quickly in a few weeks. Mine didn't.

I found a few stories of benign growths but I'm not filled with optimism! Sadly I'm a glass half empty person which is not great! I find it hard to think positive and not worry! My husband has more positive outlook..saying it's small, and found, and no symtoms ect I just don't know ! My head takes me to dark places sadly
