Urology app

hi I’m posting this on behalf of my dad who recently had a blood in his urine for 4days, he went to the doctors where they done urine test which came back clear of any infection so they referred him to urology.

At his appointment they ran blood tests (came back clear) another urine sample (this time no trace of blood) and he had a ct scan. They then gave him another appointment for 18th June we’re they said they’ll perform a cystoscopy and give him the ct scan results.

I was just wondering if this is standard procedure? He’s quite worried about having to wait 4 weeks until his next app any information would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

  • I had one single episode of blood in my urine.  I immediately saw a GP and got a referral to the urology service at the local large hospital.  I had a CT and a cystoscopy.  I would have had a prostate check, but I had that removed in 2010!  The CT found nothing, but the cystoscopy found a tiny growth, like a small seaweed in fish tank.  The doctor estimated its size by comparing it with the cystoscope tube.  The operation was a few weeks later, and only took a day to get over.
