Breast cancer

hi,

I dont really post my personal problems online but I’m really worried about this and need some advice,I recently went to the doctors with a lump in my boob and she referred me to a breast clinic, I got in within a week which made me think the worst or I wouldn’t of got in so soon, I’m only 22 and I have my whole life ahead of me I’m just so worried it will be bad news and that my life will be over!

Im so sorry to sound so down but I’m just so worried xx

  • Hi there ...

Please don't over panic ... any breast lumps are seen really quickly now ... it's the norm ... and 9 out of ten lumps are o.k ... my first four call backs from mamorgrams were all clear .... and they are really rare in someone your age .. it's not impossible but the odds are on your side ...

Try to keep as busy as possible ... unfortunately everything around lumps is all about waiting ... and yes it's really scary ... but fingers crossed you'll be fine ... let us know how you go ..

    Chrissie xx

  • Hello Hun,

so you have already been to the clinic? The worse part of the whole thing is the waiting.....once there is a plan in place believe it or not it does get a little easier....

Try and hold on to the fact that 8/9 out of 10 lumps are innocent....so right now...odds are in your favour....try and stay off dr google....he is a nasty old quack!

when you go for the results take someone with you....take your mind off things....

Lastly....even if there was something....your life isn't over.....the NHS is fantastic, take me for example.....diagnosed just before Christmas, surgery, chemo starts tomorrow....is my life over? Not on your blimmin nelly!

Take a deep breath....one foot in front of the other.....you can and will do this....xxxx

  • thank you for replying Chrissie, I have my appointment tomorrow at the one stop breast clinic  I’m just hoping it’s good news, the wait is horrible! I will let you know thank you xx

  • hi Marlyn,

thank you for replying to me, I have my appointment tomorrow at the one stop breast clinic, it says I should be given my results on the day unless I have a biopsy taken which is when I would have to wait for around a week for them, I’m just really worried I’ve never felt as worried in my life! Thank you for reassuring me and I hope your treatment goes well for you!

I will let you know how I get on thank you xxx

  • Not long to wait then. It will be a swift operation, they know what they're doing....

yes, pop us a post when you're done.....fingers crossed xxxxx

  • Good luck for tomorrow.  As the others have said, most lumps are not anything serious, and with your young age there are a number of fairly common conditions that would still require the breast clinic to diagnose them.

With your speedy appointment I'd say the best bet is they had a cancellation and you were just lucky they received your referral at the right time to put you in that slot.  They do get cancellations, and rather than move everyone forward (a logistical nightmare) the next referral will just be slotted in.

So, not long now anyway, but try not to worry.

    Hi Lollipop,

I am glad to hear that everything so far has all happened very quickly. This is the norm for the breast clinic.I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer and was given an appointment at the breast clinic in under 2 weeks both times.

I am sure that you are anxious about your appointment tomorrow, but you will find the staff there very helpful.

I hope that any tests you have don't show up anything untoward.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
