Cervical ectropion and colposcopy

I was first diagnosed with a cervical ectropion last year during pregnancy due to spotting. On two separate occasions during pregnancy two different doctors told me I had an ectropion and didn't seem worried.

6 weeks after having my baby i had my first depo shot. A week after that I have had light pink spotting on and off evey since. I went back to the doctors last week and said I have got myself really worried about cc. She offered to look at my cervix which I agreed to and she said the ectropion is definitely still there and bleeds on contact, and has referred me for a colposcopy. I am now worried sick that I am going to be told I have cervical cancer, but my last smear was in 2016 and was normal so surely things can't be that bad?

I've made myself so sick with worry that I have now been prescribed diazepam and a mild anti depressant. I just sit looking at my 2 young children and feel so worried. My youngest is only 3 months old. Cc was never mentioned during pregnancy. Really need some reassurance as my anxiety is through the roof.

Thank you

  • Let us know how you get on?? Just try not to focus on the negatives and focus on the positives. I have a bad way of thinking the worse in every situation! Xx

  • Have you booked to go back to doctors? No harm in getting it checked out again is there. Also I'm sorry to hear about your gran. I hope everything works out ok xxx

  • I had cervical erosion treated by a laser  more years ago than I remember, probably 20? I'm here because my husband has a lump, not because I have cancer myself.

I remember the treatment mainly for the horrible liquid they painted on that was extremely difficult to remove. Wear old underwear because they are not good at getting the stuff on and you'll probably throw your pants away afterwards.

It's not quite as painless as they claim but we are women, compared to childbirth it's nothing.

  • I'm in the same situation, thick uterine lining and cervical ectropion! I'm 22 and not being listened to by my doctors at all and i'm very worried. How has this gone for you? Have you had anymore answers?

  • Hello I had my colposcopy yesterday- have you had one of these yet??
anyway she found the area that was bleeding and used silver nitrate on it- told me next time if it continues they will need to freeze it. She discharged me and told me it was completely normal and I feel reassured- xxx

  • No I haven't, I got told I have the ectropion on wednesday and they told me to come back if the bleeding continues and they will sort it. I've had cramps all day today but with no bleeding so I'm not too sure what that is down to. xx

  • Hi I’m new to this I went to dr Monday and had pains in tummy

she looked like a smear test said can see cells or ecropion is what she’s hoping

I’m going in Monday for my colposcopy I’m a nervous wreck

i always keep up to date with my smears every 3 years! I’m 43 with 3 children

im worried it cc I’m just so so worried so know how you r all feeling ‍♀️

  • Hello- I had my colposcopy she stated that most people that get sent there it ends up being ecropion. She found the area that was bleeding and applied a small amount of silver nitrate to it and said to go to my smear in January which is when it's due. If you've always kept up with your smears that's brilliant just try think positive. As humans I think we always think the worst case scenario and guess it's normal. You will have to let us know how it goes on Monday I will have everything crossed it's good news xxxx

  • thank you very much

feel drained from the worry tbh it’s made me ill

    will let you know Monday

    it’s good news

ome STD AND another at top of vagina can’t remember what it’s called

    thanks again
