Multiple lymph nodes in neck

Hi

just wondering if anyone has been through or is currently going through this, I have about 4 enlarged lymph nodes in my neck that I know of , from what I can feel the one on the left side of my neck Beneath my ear is around 2cm firm but not rock hard and not moveable , I have 2 pea sized moveable ones and one grape size moveable one . I have had them that I know of around about 2 years with no change is size, I went to the doctors a couple of months ago and she said it was because of my acne (which I have had untreated for 5 years) so she changed my pill and that has really cleared up my acne but the lymph nodes still persist with no change? I am going back to the doctors tomorrow as they are worrying and if you couldn't already tell I have severe health anxiety , is it true that lymph nodes can just stay permanently enlarged after infection ps. I have had no weight loss, night sweats or anything just a little tiredness as I have been iron deficient , overalls feel fine apart from this anxiety taking over my life

I would really appreciate and comments thank you xx

  • Hello,

Sorry that you’re going through this worry at the moment. I am currently going through the exact same. I have 8 lymph nodes that I can feel, 3 on the base of the back of my neck have defiantly been there for about 2 years. Recently found more above my collar bone and sides of neck and behind ear. All pea sized, soft and very moveable. I haven’t been ill recently which sparked my worry.

I went to the doctors on Wednesday who felt them all, had to point him to some as he couldn’t feel them but found them eventually. Said it was unlikely anything sinister but referred me to have an ultrasound so I’m waiting for an appointment to come through. He didn’t tell me if it was going through as urgent.

my anxiety is also through the roof I have no other symptoms apart from being tired but I have a one and half year old and I am also 10 weeks pregnant. I feel so worried about all of this and can only think the worse all information I can find points to cancer.

how did you get on at the doctors?

    I went ant to the

  • Hi sorry so late at posting again I didn't think anyone would've text me on this lol , the doctor that day said she couldn't feel the one which I think is around 2cm , she kept trying but couldn't feel it which was very frustrating because I know it's deffinatley there and but the other ones she could feel she said felt normal, I also discussed with her my health anxiety and she referred me for CBT which I haven't had yet I just hope when I do it's going to help with this horrendous anxiety, still got all the same nodes now , haven't changed in size I don't think but still worry me daily

  • hi miks77

yes I see what you mean but yes would be great if u could keep us updated I deffinatley will too, I know the waiting is killing me , keeping my fingers crossed for you

    have a great weekend everyone

  • Hi Miks, I feel your pain, I am obsessed with googling sebaceous carcinoma. Like you, I have the swollen submanibular gland on the same side as the eye (left). I have several swollen cervical glands on both sides which is odd! I've had them for 3 weeks now but no cold/flu/sore throat etc. I have some pain on the left, not sure if it's nodes pushing on muscle or something. I have my eyelid biopsy on Thursday so desperately trying to stay off Google until then. I am so miserable at the moment which is not like me. I have a 6 month old baby and I cannot even bare to think about negative outcomes. I hope all goes well with your ultrasound. I'm going to go to the docs this week to request one as unfortunately my lymph nodes are showing no sign of reducing. Please keep me updated. Thanks for the support Marie :) I guess you've considered that yours could be TMJ? Hope you get some answers too!
  • Yeah I have thought it was that for years but since having this lump i linked them together (health anxiety) not good lol x

  • Hi, just read your post, sorry you are on here and are waiting for results. Last May I had a lump in my neck, when I got my ultrasound and biopsy done , they said my paritoid gland was ok but submandibular gland looked suspicious the doctor doing the ultrasound said not to worry as it could be a thyroid problem., the biopsy came back with a rare form of lymphoma. I had treatment which ended in November. I had hardly any saliva but I have an auto immune disease as well and just thought it was that. Unfortunately six weeks of remission, the same lump came back again on the submandibular gland, more biopsies and unfortunately my cancer was back. It was too soon to have more treatment so as I feel well enough, I am on active watch and wait as it’s an indolent blood cancer. Hope this post doesn’t worry you too much, most biopsies do come back with a negative result. Guess I was the unlucky percent. Hope everything goes ok, even if it is the worse result, I coped very well on the chemo. Keep us posted.

  • Hi

so sorry to hear what you’ve been through, hope you can start treatment again soon and beat this nasty thing , if you don’t mind me asking how old are you and what was your lump like as in hard/soft big/small? Also did you have any other symptoms with your first lump , was it growing in size? You don’t see many people come back to this forum with a diagnosis most of the time so the only questions you can ask is google and the results are always worrying!

    Take care x

  • Hi, my lump was hard and it was quite large, it wasn’t movable and you could see it easily, I also lost a lot of weight, had night sweats and had terrible fatigue which again I thought it was my autoimmune problem. After the biopsy the lump did go down a bit in size but didn’t go away till after 3rd chemo. The lump I have now is pea size but you could see it easily on the ultrasound, my hope is I don’t get any of the B symptoms like the last time for a long time, after I had my ct scan, it showed enlarged nodes under my arm and at each side of my lungs and kidneys, I am 65 now. Hope this helps you.

  • Hi scones

thank you so much for answering my questions really appreciate it, Im quite a hypochondriac and I’ve had this lump in my neck for 2 years but I don’t think it’s grown and I haven’t had any symptoms but with what I’ve read online I’m just scared it’s some sort of indolent slow growing lymphoma , I have some other lymph nodes in my neck which are quite small , I know this would be rare as I’m only 22 but I have an ent app in 3 weeks so hopefully will get to the bottom of it , I really hope you don’t get any b symptoms too , please keep us updated x

  • Hi, you are young but at least you getting it checked out. If you don’t have any other symptoms they prob wudnt treat it just now. Try not to worry, if the ENT consultant is worried he will do further testing

  • Thank you for your support , I look forward to my app to try and get to the end of this , did they say how long yours had been there ?

  • Oh Ewar

It really is horrible just the thought isn’t i?!I also have children and all I can think of is them,my twins will be two in July and my oldest daughter will be 4 in July so I understand your fear. Google is not good ( but hard not to at the same time)and I’ve read nothing good about Sebaceous Carcinoma as it’s such an unknown rare type of skin cancer, I also read it’s often misdiagnosed which also makes me worry eye drs are missing something...Praying that neither of us have this! Good that your going to Dr this week and hopefully you will get an ultrasound too! Every time I’ve had an ultrasound they tell me my lymph nodes are just reactive but now it ( the submandibular one) has actually grown the ENT says even though it looks just reactive it is too big so wants to do an excisional biopsy to see what it is if antibiotics didn’t bring it down which unfortunately antibiotics did nothing. My neck also throbs around this lymph node , sometimes feels like it’s pulling on something,it almost makes me wonder if it throbs because it’s growing bigger again?I also feel a very hard but smaller one towards the back of my neck in what I understand is posterior triangle? They said it’s just a small one it’s nothing but it’s very hard so that Also scares me.

goodluck with your eyelid biopsy this week I will be thinking of you! I will definitely keep you updated I hope so much this lymph node has not grown again in last two weeks

    take care
