Paget's disease

Hi everyone

I have been experiencing severe itching in my left breast (nipple area) for a few weeks . And both breast are very swollen, sore and tender (not unusual for me)

but the left moreso.

i have no rash or other symptoms apart from lumpy nipple ducts at bottom of breast. I have no rash /scaling or bleeding or discharge . I had mammogram , ultra sound both showed no lumps but an area of dense tissue underneath the nipple area where I am itching . I have biopsy this week.

Extremely worried it could be inflammatory breast cancer or pagets has anyone else experienced this ?

as it appears to be quite rare . Any advice would be welcome thank you for reading xx

  • And my sanity too......don't know where I would have been without all you lovely ladies on here xxx

  • I went to my dr 2 weeks ago, with a rash on my nipple. no itching. no soreness. and was sent for further test. mamagram and scans all came back clear. dr did a punch biopsy just to be sure. came back positive 2 weekslater for pagent desease.Even the doctor was shocked at this.. I am now booked in for 2 weeks time for surgery ,( just right befor christmas) to remove the nipple and areola. googling was th worst thing i could do, all the stories , you ready. make you worry more.

just keeping my fingers crossed, that everything with the surgery goes well. and will know more about further treatment, if needed . after my op\

me and my family are gonna have the best christmas . and deal with what comes after.

  • Glad I've found this forum,  two weeks ago I noticed my right nipple and part of the areola was bright red I left it for a week and it did fade a bit but you can still see the discoloration, have had no other symptoms or lumps, got an appointment for the doctors anyways just to check it out and she gave me some steroid cream to use but cant help but worry.

  • Hi ladies,

How long did itching last? was it all the time or just in waves?

I have had itching but it isnt all the time, also one of the montgomery tubicle is dry and crusty.

Dr mentioned padgets disease and gave steorid cream but now I am extremly worried.

  • I'm experiencing itching ,burning , scalling and burning of my right nipple and aoreola area for almost a month now . I've been using hydrocortisone to ease the itching and burning sensation but it's not working at all . I'm worried that it's something else . I'm going to seen by my gp this afternoon.

  • Hi

How are you getting on, did you see your GP?

I've been reading this forum the last couple of days as I to have a small patch of what looks like eczema (I don't suffer with eczema) on my right breast by my nipple. It's incredibly itchy and googling (I know I shouldn't but I like to be armed with information!) it's looking like Paget's disease is a possibilty. I saw my GP yesterday and started a 10 day treatment of hydrocortisone and I'll go and see her again on the 10th day for an update/potential referral.

Such a lot of thoughts and fears at the moment, trying to be practical but hard sometimes, especially at night.

I hope your'e getting on ok and everyone else that reads this - It's nice to know there are people to reach out to.

  • I've a suddent non itchy rash on edge of L areola though my left armpit is very itchy and L one was tender on exam

I've been referred urgently for a breast scan, possibly Pagets, I've still a 3 week wait, Im so worried, I live alone and have other health issues

Are there support groups specifically as I gather it is rare. Does anyone know of any info on survivor groups etc

    Gratefully

  • Hi

How have you been. I've had a referral this morning by my Dr who thinks I have pagets. Stomach doing knots now waiting for referral date.

I thought mine was part of a bad flare up of my ezcema but Dr can see no change after treatment for my excema which has now gone on my face.

  • Hi all,

I found this thread as I have been referred for urgent breast tests. Went to the GP last Friday and got an appointment for the breast clinic the same day. The appointment is this Thursday. I had itching in my right nipple, burning pain in the nipple and pain in the tissue behind the nipple. There is a hard dense area in the breast behind the nipple that the GP confirmed and painful to the touch.

I am trying not to worry too much but my instinct is that something is not right.

it is so helpful having a forum like this to gain support during such tough times.
