Waiting for biopsy results - Uterine Cancer

I have just started the agonising wait for results. Had a hysteroscopy on Saturday and was told it should be 2 weeks. I am quite a strong person but this is going to be hard. Of course I know that it could be fine but I went to my GP in January and it is now April. Even if the results are clear I still have to have all the polyps removed under a 'general'.

  • Fingers crossed for you. x

  • Hi

Me too,  I accidently  found a black spot/mole on my perineum  and was sent to my Gyn she did a routine smear at the same time, only to find a large polyp on my cervx, smear and removal/biopsy polyp was done.

My Gyn  adviced a follow up ultra sound, which I did,  the radiographer found a thickened endometrium 8mm (I'm postmenopausal)  and an area that was difficult to define. The radiographer adviced a hysteroscopy.

Follow up  with Gyn, my smear and polyp biopsy came back clear. 2 weeks ago I had a hystoroscopy/biopsy and biopsy of my black spot under GA.

I have to wait another 4 weeks for my follow up appointment for my 2 different biopsys, the wait is  soooo difficult.

  • I went to doc as I suspected a cyst which I’d had before, don’t know what made me go as I hadn’t really had many other symptoms just some light post menopausal bleeding which was fairly inconsequential, so glad I did otherwise it wouldn’t have been found I’d probably have carried on as I was.

  • its been 3 weeks since i had my hysteroscopy and as yet no results i just want to know whats going to happen nxt i hate waiting for results to come back as most people do.

  • Hi I got my results from Hysteroscopy yesterday. I have womb cancer too. Am having the same treatment as you. Keep your chin up. Xxxxxx
  • hi everyone, I’m new to this and this is my first post.

i had a hysteroscopy on Thursday, they removed a 1cm polyp and took a biopsy of my lining.

I am only 37 but over last 6 months my periods have got progressively worse.

I am sick with worry and fearing the worst.

my periods started with just being horrendously heavy for 7 days and then start stopping for the next 6 days, then next period the start stopping was longer, then the next one the start stopping lasted 21 days, but my question is it’s like mucus and pinky.

it comes and goes like every 6/12 hours?

my consultant thinks I’m way too young for it to be cancer. But I just have a horrible feeling.

they did rush me through the 2 week wait rather than the 14 weeks.

Also so after my hysteroscopy Thursday afternoon. The pain after was like AWFUL period pains and all you women that did it awake OMG that must have been awful, I started bleeding within an hour after, just like mid cycle dark red. I then bled for just under 24 hours. I’ve then had nothing for 30 hours and this morning I’ve started bleeding again, muscusy red blood. Has anyone else had this? And what was everyone’s bleeding like? Google is just a bas#ard and you pretty much have all the cancer symptoms.

ive had low pelvic pain for 3 months now and I always know I’m about to get some bleeding as the pain gets worse. I know i am paranoid but just so worried. Hubby has been great, my children are 13 and 11 and they know nothing. We fly to turkey in 12 days and I will try and relax but just feel sick.

sorry for such a long message

  • hi Laura so sorry your going through this , it is a worrying time and no matter what anyone says the 2 week wait for the results I found extremely hard, as for the bleeding after your hystercopy I also had this bleeding then it stopped and started again after a few days,  so I presume this is normal, yes Google is very scary but you cant help doing it lol,

you are a lot younger than me Laura so maybe it has something to do with your periods, I really hope so and they can help you with that, just try and keep in mind Laura, that the dreaded word cancer is definitely NOT a death sentence now, as I and lots more know,  my diagnose was not good i had womb cancer, but thankfully have just been given the all clear by my surgeon,

dont be afraid to ask questions Laura on anything you dont understand, always take someone with you to appointments, as like me you maybe forget things or wish you would have got more info.

try and enjoy your hols and let us know how you get on good luck xxxx

  • Thanks so much for your reply.

im so happy you have been given the all clear.

fingers crossed it is something else, I’ve had my hormone levels checked Incase I was having early menopause but that came back normal. My ca125 was low so they were happy with that and my smear came back last week normal too, so worst case scenario is it’s not there and spread.

i just have this awful gut feeling that won’t go away.

hopefully this starting bleeding again then is just normal.

Jeeze this 2 week wait will be worse than my 2 week ivf wait to see if we were pregnant ‍♀️

But I’m trying to stay optimistic and positive xx

  • Hi

I’m new on here - I’m  in a very similar situation and wondered if you’ve had your results yet?

I have been having random bleeds and spotting since the beginning of June along with lower pelvic and lower back discomfort. I was sent for ultrasound scans and hysteroscopy on 24th July where I was told my uterine wall is 18cm thick and I have 3 reasonably large polyps. A biopsy of the wall was taken at this time and referred on to have the polyps removed under general anaesthetic. Results of this biopsy would be sent to me.

I had the polyp removal on 2nd August and told that I would be told the results by letter.

So I’m waiting for 2 lots of results and I know it’s only been a couple of weeks since the op but I’m struggling to think about anything else!  How long has it taken for others to get their results through?  And if the results show anything will I also get an appointment at the same time?

sorry to sound so clueless, any advice will be so gratefully received!
