Waiting for biopsy results - Uterine Cancer

I have just started the agonising wait for results. Had a hysteroscopy on Saturday and was told it should be 2 weeks. I am quite a strong person but this is going to be hard. Of course I know that it could be fine but I went to my GP in January and it is now April. Even if the results are clear I still have to have all the polyps removed under a 'general'.

  • Hi and welcome.

ive been through this process and the waiting for results is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I’m a teacher of over 40 years, a stressful job but nothing matches this wait.

peopke on this site are great and very supportive. I found my best support joining in an off topic chat then sent personal messages to some of te participants, they have all been wonderful. My strength.

i waited three weeks for my results and I know that my mind sank the depths one minute and was hopeful the next.

my results were not brilliant but not the worst I’d imagined. The biopsy showed low grade cancer cells in the womb lining but there are so many other reasons for issues. I have an MRI next week with s follow up appointment and a hysterectomy. I found that the specialist nurse and my GP have been very supportive and that there is also a lot out there to support us whatever the outcome.  People on this site are top of that list of support.

keep us informed of what happens. I have sent a friend request to you. Personal message me if you want to and I will respond. Ask questions and I’ll try to answer from my experience. But most of all just say what you think or feel if that helps.

  • Thanks, great to have some one to chat to. This has really lifted my mood.  Getting ready for work now but will certainly be in touch!

  • Ok. Just send a message when you’re able.

have a good day at work.

  • I was expecting to have the results yet but spoke to Dr on another matter and they were in. It is good news. Naturally I am relieved but also feel slightly guilty that not everyone is so lucky.

I am waiting for a letter now about having operation for removal of polyps.

    Best wishes

  • I’m so glad that it’s good news. Good luck with the polyp operation.

  • Hi

How lovely to hear that your biopsies were clear. I had my biopsies taken on Monday via hysteroscopy under general anesthetic and was told that the results would be 4 weeks. Hearing that you got your results within 2 weeks has given me hope that I will not be waiting as long  as I anticipated.

  • Hi I've been waiting for results this past 5 weeks they are due this friday. I feel i'mok. The bleed I had for 6 days stopped. i have been really good about it at times as I go to Homeopath and have found that to be supportive as well as meditation and healing. Now I just want the results........... apart from the bleeding and shows prior to the bleed I had no other symptoms.  I'm hoping its the HRT caused the bleed did anyone else find that HRT was the cause of theior symptoms

    Kind Regards D

  • Hi. I had D&C, polypectomy and biopsy on Monday and thought I was coping well, it seems the more days that go by the more I worry. I really am trying to stay strong for my family but finding it harder and harder to concentrate on anything.

  • Had 1 today, n was in severe pain all the way through, they say it should be painless, yet I'd got two nurses fanning me with bedpans as I'd gone pure white n was sweating because of the pain I was in, I'm dreading my results but not because of their outcome, because I'm absolutely terrified of having a procedure like that done again, my doctor said I'd had aneasetic, but I felt that much pain surely it should of been stopped as that's what you quote ? I'd rather them operate to remove anything they find, than to go through that again. Am I the only 1 who feels this bad ?

  • aw that's so wrong to be in so much pain like that, I had a hystercopy (not sure if it's the same as what you had ) but also found it extremely painful so they had to stop, and booked me in to have it done under general, then had to wait 2 weeks for biopsy results, unfortunately I was diagnosed with endomital cancer had a full hysterectomy 2 weeks later, luckily it was only stage 1 and my doctor told me they had removed all the tumour but cancer cells remain so start a course if radiotheraphy  in 2 weeks time when hopefully I will be cancer free

it is a very worrying time and last few weeks have been a bit of a blur with my op and the all the meds so maybe next time I go I will be able to ask more and take it all in.

just such a shame it was very painful for you, and dont really understand why they continued and did not give you an option to have a general good luck and hope your biopsy results come back soon and everything is okay
