Cervical cancer

I really could use some advice, I'm feeling so very alone and don't know where to turn.

  • Hi hun I went to the dr today and had a smear test done and they found a mass on my cervix. They are referring me to an emergency gynaecologist which can take 2 weeks. I am a nervous wreck I have 2 kids with needs who rely on me and I keep telling myself this is it for me. I've been having a lot of abdominal pain and pelvic pain and the dr said my white blood cells were slightly low nothing concerning but I am sure low blood cells usually means cancer so isn't that my body already telling me the outcome :( ...

I suffer terrible health anxiety so a 2 week wait is going to be terrible for me I haven't had any bleeding inbetween periods except for today very slight spotting but hoping that's linked to the test itself.

I have also been having diarrhea a lot which isn't like me and the stomach pains are so strong I am so happy to see you have survived this if I find out I have it I am trying to think how I will cope but the drs faces looked worrisome as they looked really concerned for me

  • Hi Sara,

I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I have to tell you that when you have extreme health anxieties it seems like every ache, pain and gurgle in our body is magnified. I also know from personal experince (and not any medical basis), that I can have diarrhea when I worry alot. I think it's all connected!

You will feel so much better once you have answers. It is empowering to take control of your health - just take it one day, one appointment, one test or whatever, at a time. Don't read anything into how the doctors faces look, I don't think you can tell anything by that. You got this, girl!  Keep us posted on how you are doing.
