Post menopause bleeding mass on ovary

Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and just wanted to see if anyone else has gone through this as I’m so worried.

im 20 years post menopause and started to bleed 10 days ago.

had an appointment yesterday where they did a trans vag scan which showed a thickened lining of 5.4mm, multiple cysts on one ovary and a “mass” (solid) on the other. I wasn’t told the measurements. I think they said they are enlarged as well.

i then had a womb biopsy and had bloods. Blood results are back but are locked until November.

i have an urgent mri booked on Monday.

ive been totally blindsided by this. I wasn’t told expecting polyps etc so this has come as a shock.

I usually try and research problems but, as I don’t have any reports, I can’t.

the first thing I’m wondering is, once the mri results are back are you contacted quickly if it’s sinister but if it’s benign you just wait longer or is that a myth

other thing is, how am I supposed to carry on functioning until results are back? I’m so worried. Any thoughts or advice? Anyone else had this?

  • Hi Sarah, whilst my scenario is a little different, I too am waiting on gynecological related MRI results, so I understand totally what you say about how to carry on functioning while we wait until we are told what we are dealing with.

I believe I can send you a friend request to you if you wanted to accept and we can perhaps talk outside the forum (moderators - please tell me if I have this wrong or something). My profile page gives my story to date.
