Post menopause bleeding mass on ovary

Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and just wanted to see if anyone else has gone through this as I’m so worried.

im 20 years post menopause and started to bleed 10 days ago.

had an appointment yesterday where they did a trans vag scan which showed a thickened lining of 5.4mm, multiple cysts on one ovary and a “mass” (solid) on the other. I wasn’t told the measurements. I think they said they are enlarged as well.

i then had a womb biopsy and had bloods. Blood results are back but are locked until November.

i have an urgent mri booked on Monday.

ive been totally blindsided by this. I wasn’t told expecting polyps etc so this has come as a shock.

I usually try and research problems but, as I don’t have any reports, I can’t.

the first thing I’m wondering is, once the mri results are back are you contacted quickly if it’s sinister but if it’s benign you just wait longer or is that a myth

other thing is, how am I supposed to carry on functioning until results are back? I’m so worried. Any thoughts or advice? Anyone else had this?

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently waiting on results and further investigations following a recent womb biopsy. It's understandable that you're feeling so worried.

There is no hard and fast rule about how long it takes for results to be shared with the patient and whether the length of time directly links to the outcome of those results. There can be many factors that influence how quickly you may hear news, so please don't read too much into that.

I wonder if you might find it helpful to talk things through with one of our nurses. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can ahead of your MRI on Monday and your next appointment with the doctor. If you'd like to chat with they they're available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

We also have some tips and advice about how to cope with waiting for news that you may find useful as well.

I hope you have some answers and reassurance soon. Do keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We're here for you.

    Best wishes,
