Hi Noonoo81.  I had the same, the nurse sort of gave me the heads up when I had the biopsy that it was cancer.  They cannot say for definite until the biopsy results.  Mine was breast cancer so I felt better prepared when I saw the consultant.  I would say when you go back for the results, take someone with you.  My husband came with me and he remembered a lot more than I did. Hi Noonoo81 I can't tell you but do you have a gut feeling?  I did so sort of wasn't a shock when I saw consultant.  Glad you are taking husband and son.  My husband has been my rock.  Please let me know when you have had your appointment how it went.  I am happy to chat, I am on here most days, it makes me feel better being able to share with other people who understand.

Thanks for your reply again it’s helpful sometimes I think yes with the nurse telling me I need an operation was a heads up and I can’t seen to shift a cold I have for over 3 weeks and breathless I have an under active  thyroid aswell so thinks always take forever to go thank you so much Lee for your time xx

Thank you for your reply it means a lot hope your getting on well now so are you saying as they didn’t say they thought it was cancer it might not be. I was in so much shock I never asked any questions big regret now jet went from been a cyst to definitely not a cyst and needing an operation within an hour and half I’m all over the place

Hi Noonnoo81,

The results can go either way. This is why biopsy is considered to be the best way to find out.  Within the time period - 1 year from diagnosis. I had 3 visits to the breast clinic with breast lumps. The third one, in my other breast was larger than the others. My consultant thought that this might be cancer too, but a biopsy proved that it was pre-cancer. I had a lumpectomy at first and this was followed by a double mastectomy within a year. I am fortunate that this was 16 years ago now and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life.

You will find it helpful to write a list of any questions and to take this to your appointment. It is all too easy to be thrown in a consultation and then everything you'd intended to ask, goes right out of your head.

Don't worry about your reaction to being told this. It takes a while for this to sink in and it throws us all mentally.
