Complex cyst- Ovarian Cancer?

Has anyone else experienced this. I have abdominal pain, pelvic pain, heavy periods and a recurrent UTI. I had a CT scan which showed a mass in my womb, after further investigation I have a CA125 count of over 170 and doing a scan they found a 7cm complex cyst. Doctors like a gynaecologist, oncologist and a surgeon are doing an MDT? I have also got a Clinical Nurse Specialist. I am really confused to what is going on. I am 22, family history of Cancer. I don't think it is cancer, but my mind can't stop going there as I am not off the cancer 2 week pathway yet. Any advice at all what to expect? Thank you.

  • Hi! Thank you for your reply.

My next appointment is in a few weeks, I am waiting for a letter to confirm when it will be. Totally waiting is the worst it is so stressful and too many unanswered question. Fingers crossed that you get your surgery. Biology is very cool but also just as scary too. Good luck to you as well, thinking of you x

  • Try not Google too much, that’s the real danger! Keep in touch when you get your date, hopefully not long x

  • Thank you, yes I am trying not too it is a vicious cycle. I have just had a phone call from the receptionist. I was set to have a follow up appointment mid March, but the phone call was to re-arrange, for next Wednesday. I tried asking but all she said is that the MDT has been done and a new consultant would like to do a follow up. Trying not to overthink but it has made me anxious from an original telephone appointment, to an in person. Sorry for ranting x

  • I am glad for you it’s an in person meeting. Over the phone is just so impersonal especially when it’s your health. Keeping fingers and toes crossed for you that it’s just a complication or a cancellation appointment. You are so young, it would be very rare for it to be something sinister. Take someone with you and just try and get out in nature, eat well and rest this week. I understand the waiting is so stressful.
Will be thinking of you x

  • Hello there ,

I agree with Cloudy ....it's a really good thing to see the new consultant in person . Not too long to wait now for answers to the puzzle Less than a week ....you'll be in my prayers

  • Thank you- Yeah I am glad it is in person. I know whatever it is I will have surgery and possibly lose an ovary even if its nothing sinister. I am trying to keep as positive as I can be x

  • Thank you I really appreciate the support from yourself and Cloudy x

  • Hello,   just checking in on you . Hope you're coping OK and getting some answers now .

    Thinking of you still

  • Hi thank you. I had my appointment yesterday. They have said its no longer a cyst but tumour and showing signs of cancer. So a lot to take in. I will be having surgery within 4-6 weeks. I am not getting key surgery either as it is so big my surgeon does not want to risk it. Still not 100% that it is cancer but that is my update. Sorry it is not a fantastic one. Take care x

  • Hello my dear  girl ,

I'm so very sorry that you have had this bad news . What a shock for you and your family. I'm pleased your doctor is dealing with your case quickly, even though the surgery might seem a long way off. The time will pass pretty fast as you make preparations.

Please keep in mind that they won't really know until your surgery happens and biopsy results come back

. If you recall I had that same surgery in 2014   ,as my cyst was cancer suspect  ......and my results were clear . I had already had a hysterectomy 20 + years earlier  , so no keyhole due to old scar tissue . It was OK.

Now , you are wonderfully young,  so they'll be carefully thinking about your future plans  I'm sure.  Your youth also means you will  recover from surgery really well .

Be brave and remember "Your strength will lie in keeping calm and showing trust " .

    In my prayers daily ,

    Zillah
