8cm Complex Ovarian Cyst with CA125 of 51 - Absolutely terrified!!

I posted on here a few days ago after I found out unexpectedly that I had a large complex ovarian cyst. The consultant thinks it could a dermoid cyst but can't determine this for sure and is sending me for an MRI scan. In the meantime, my CA125 has come back raised at 51!!! I'm postmenopausal which just adds even more risk into the mix and I just feel like the odds are stacking up against me. I've had no symptoms and only got checked out because of a tiny amount of postmenopausal bleeding. I'm all over the place.

  • Hi chhaya99  ,

Sorry you've not had a reply yet. The thread is still active, but I think everyone is probably still busy after Christmas and new year.

Your case sounds complicated, but it still could be benign and I'm hoping that it is. Wow, that must have been hugely traumatic to have placental cancer. I just want to give you a hug   and hold your hand whilst you wait on results.

    It sounds really uncomfortable too.

Keep us up to date and stay in touch,

The ladies here are wonderful support.

    Good luck,

    Lyns21

I'm relieved to read about the reduction! Happy new year xx

  • I’m ok, had last chemo on 30/12 so glad that’s finally over! I had appt with cardiologist on Monday and he is happy so I am signed off from him… scan on 28/1 and then oncologist on 10/2 so fingers crossed it’s all looking good! We booked a house by the sea in Cornwall for Xmas… was lovely to get away, hope you had a lovely break too x

Happy new year, hope it wards off the bad.  Thinking of you all going through treatment xx

  • Hi Lyn

Thanks for the reply, yes I'm.all over the place and trying to stay busy but very stressed.

  • That’s wonderful news that your tumours have shrunk 50%, long may that continue!
What are your side affects? I hope you aren’t still feeling very unwell xx

  • Oh how lovely, what a Xmas that would’ve been. Sounds great. I am keeping everything crossed for you for next month - please do update!
have you had any side affects from chemo or been ok?x

  • Welcome to the group. Yes there are lots of us still here, it’s just been quiet over the festivities. I still like to check in on everyone as I’m just ever so grateful of the support of strangers.
im very glad to read your care seems to be very quick and I hope you get all the answers and reassurance you need very soon. I’m sorry that your mass is affecting your bladder, that must drive you mad having to have it drained all the time. Hopefully you will get surgery and get it out although I do know adhesions can cause bother. My own dermoid cyst caused adhesions to my bowel so they had to do an ovary reconstruction when they removed my cyst. The gynae said that adhesions are sometimes the more difficult bit.
16th January will be here before you know it, keep busy and keep in touch. Rooting for you!x

  • Hi,

Yes I have been told my adhesions are very bad hence they have left the cyst for so long and the cyst Is fully surrounded by bowels so high chance of permanent stoma bag, 16th is way to long

  • Hello - I'm really sorry you're in this awful period of waiting. It really is the worst! If you've read this thread you'll see we've all been on a variety of journeys with it.

I also had a prior cancer 13 years ago (cervical) and have a huge amount of adhesions as a result. They do like to cause problems but mine actually helped me as they contained the cancer rather than letting it spread.

Really hoping they manage to free things up for you, get the cyst out and with zero bowel damage.

    Jo x
