Post Menopausal Bleeding

I am 65 and had an early menopause at about 45. I have had 3 episodes of some post menopausal bleeding over the last 2 months. It’s been very light, and just been a one off thing each time. I have a cervical smear test booked for the week after next . I’m wondering if I should chat to my GP before that though? Also I feel bloated, but I’m not sure if that’s just psychological!

  • Hi, have read your other post , similar to my story but my HRT changed December last year and bleeding on and off since January.Hope your scan goes okay.Google is both friend and foe .Also I am a nurse which doesn't help . My family are very supportive and trying to keep positive .

  • Thanks for your reply and kind words.  I am a physio, so like you, it sometimes doesn't help having our knowledge.  However, I've heard and read alot of positive journeys...we just need to see beyond the mess ourmind can create.  Be realistic, and try and be 1/2 step ahead to consider some potential positive action.  There are answers we just need to keep trying.  My husband is very supportive and patient when I'm feeling defeated...anyway, look after yourself, I send you my best wishes.

  • Agree and thanks, just need to see what happens, after all could be nothing to worry about and if it is cancer then not a lot we can change and will deal with it as best we can .I think for me , it's the not knowing and the waiting, especially when I see how quickly some are being seen here, different Health authorities , I guess . Keep positive , we all got this !

  • I’m just out of my hysteroscopy which was fine as I took gas and air before and during so was nicely zoned out thank goodness. I also took paracetamol and ibuprofen about 30 mins before my appointment. The doctor told me that she could see no sign of cancer. The sample still has to be sent off and tested but she wasn’t concerned at all she said. I’m hugely relieved.  Thanks all for the reassurance along the way and support. Keeping my fingers firmly crossed for those still waiting tests or treatment. xx

  • That’s an awesome outcome Rosetree. I’m thrilled for you :)

  • That's great news!

  • You must feel like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders.  The body does strange things.  Great news for you.  Take care Xx

  • I had mine today too I’ve also been told that there was no sign of cancer. I didn’t have gas and air as it makes me feel so sick so I had local anaesthetic. I only went to my gp last Thursday so in a week I’ve had scans and a Hysteroscopy! Just goes to show that a lot of these tests are just precautionary so that should give others some hope x

  • Great news!

  • That's good to hear Kaylinn48, at least you can move forwards now xx
