Good morning,, I've just had a telephone consultation, I was told my fit test came back at 200. is this a bad sign ? I have to have a colonoscopy in the next 2 weeks, any advice ? x
Husband had his FIat results today. Had blood in his stools almost 3 weeks ago which he got checked ASAP with his GP. Ordered him a FIT test. Had the results via face to face with GP earlier today. Strongly positive ( I'm assuming this means lots of blood) number was 90 and has been referred for 2 week appointment with colorectal department at hospital. So upset and worried. I don't want him to have cancer.
Hi Rosielee, I’ve had my colonoscopy and got my report. There was no mass found and no evidence of malignancy!!! Phew
I do however have diverticulosis and some inflammation of the end of my large bowel on the right hand side (terminal ileum) which normally points towards Crohn’s disease. They have taken 12 biopsies in total from this area, other random areas along the bowel and also the rectum). I will see a Gasto consultant for the results. I’m just so relieved there is no mass, polyps or anything suspicious.
Fingers crossed you get a good result too, best of luck! The bowel prep is pretty horrendous though in my opinion, but worth it to get some answers! X
Hi Lunarlou, it’s so easy to think the worse in these situations, I know cause I did too. However, try not to worry as he’s been fast tracked and will be getting answers within 2 weeks. My fit test was positive and was 400 which is mega high, however I had my colonoscopy today and no mass or evidence of malignancy was found! ️ there are so many things that can cause the bleeding so keep positive! Good luck to you both for good news x
Hi I did think about you today and wondered how you got on. I’m so pleased to hear that all went well for you - that’s great news! I bet you are so relieved! It’s given me a bit of hope now - I have mine booked for Monday- dreading the prep particularly ! (And the results!) Though like you say - worth it to get some answers. i hope this gives you some reassurance, I had a positive FIT test in October of 74. I was referred for a colonoscopy and nothing was found at all, the consultant said I had a lovely healthy bowels!
I get gastritis sometimes and my GP said any blood in the stool was likely from that.
Thank you for your post. I was diagnosed with mild gastritis years ago - I feel like I have it now as I have been having burning pains in my upper stomach just under my ribs - I’ve been blsmibgbitbinbthecstress - but hoping and praying it is something like that that could be causing blood in my stools and a high FIT test but I do have bowel wall thickening as well which is a worry. I guess I’ll find out next week for sure.
