Coping with the wait!

Hi, just wondering how anyone else has been able to cope with waiting for test results.  Have been told I have cancer but waiting for biopsy results to determine whether it's lymphoma and if so what type.  The waiting is so frustrating and upsetting and I feel like I'm on an emotional rollercoaster.  I try to keep myself busy and to avoid researching - although that's quite difficult at times.  Sometimes it's hard to stop my mind wandering to worse case scenario.  I'm sure that there are lots of you in the same position and wondered if you chould share how you are dealing withi it, or just confirm that what I'm going through is perfectly normal :)

  • Hi x appointment on Friday was to tell me that the histology results are still not back yet but that I need to go for a PET scan which will hopefully be this week.  I've also been prescribed steroids which should reduce the swelling and inflammation but can't take them until scan complete.  Hopefully see consultant again next week pending biopsy results being in to discuss treatment plan.

Trying to stay strong and positive but is getting harder the longer the wait goes on if I'm honest.

Sending love and positivity to all x

  • It’s good that they are keeping you well informed though, I have my appointment with the surgeon this Thursday so hopefully he will give me the results of my CT/MRI and biopsies and what treatment plan is ahead, think surgery is obviously being considered initially but don’t want to preempt Thursday discussion. Like you a bit longer to wait, then it’s when will it all actually start?

Trying to keep positive thoughts, stay strong everyone, sending hope and love xx

  • Another wait but it's good that they're doing the PET scan in parallel with the biopsy analysis rather than one after the other.

It's times like this that you know who your friends are.

    Wishing you well x

  • Hope you get the best case results on Thursday.  Will be thinking of you x

  • I agree x it's also interesting to see how different people react when you make them aware.  I'm surrounded by a great network of friends and family but sometimes that can be difficult as I feel I should stay strong for them when all I want to do is have a tantrum x

Take care and keep strong x

  • I'm pleased that you have a great network of friends and relatives.

Do you have to stay strong for everyone? You say you feel you should, but why? No need to answer, but something to think about.

I don't feel weak or strong - just a human being having a difficult time. I'm doing my best to get on with life and have opened up to a few people. Life goes on and I'm grateful for all the good in it.

  • Thanks Sharza your response was just what I needed to remind myself of the advice I would give others xx do as I say etc xx sending lots of love

  • Appreciate your reply Annie Dee.

We are blessed to have caring friends and family and all the other good things in our lives.

It was your first posting that prompted me to send my initial reply on this thread. Thank you.

    Love to you x

  • It's nice to have somewhere to share thoughts and worries xx fingers crossed for speedy and positive outcomes for all and hopefully not suffering too much with symptoms x  my daughter sent me a message when I was first diagnosed that has really stuck with me ..."you have been assigned this mountain to show others it can be moved" not sure if it will help you and others but I think it might resonate a little.  Have confidence in your own inner strength and ability to overcome xx love to all x

  • That is a lovely phrase and very motivational. I am just trying to stay positive and think that there will be the help there if needed. These pages are so good to share our feelings x
