Breast burning/tingling

Hi. I did want to upload a picture so you could see.
But in my left breast i am feeling a burning/tingling feeling, it also feels like areola (i think thats what its called) has gone lighter and is really sensitive to the other (keeps going hard) and seems to be a little flatter than the other one, also the burning feeling feels like its in my armpit now also!

i have a referal made but this 2 week wait is scaring the life out of me, my anxiety is at its max to the point i cant eat  :(

ive had loads of bloods done and all come back ok, but i no bloods doesnt pick up cancer. I had an inflammatory blood test which came back as normal.

i am so so scared.

  • I didnt book it as ive had my appoitment come through but not till the 26th November its still a long wait 20 days it would of taken from the referal. The private scan was a lot of money which i was going to do for the consultant and the ultrasound but then if a biopsy is needed it was £750 just for 1 single biopsy :(

  • Hi N92,

It certainly mounts up very quickly, when the different tests are included. You also have the problem of having another wait to get back into the NHS system, if you need any further treatment. Now that you have your NHS appointment, you could phone again and say that you are willing to take a cancellation, if any come up. In the meantime, you can start a countdown to your appointment at last.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi N92, I messaged you earlier in the week as I saw we had similar symptoms. I just wanted you to know I had my appointment this morning and all is fine. Like you, I have worried myself sick for 10 days since my referral and I can’t tell you the relief. Please try not to worry, I was convinced something was wrong but there isn’t. I know not every case is the same but I really hope I can reassure you slightly x

  • Was this at the Gp? Or at the breast clinic? x

  • Glad it was all okay though! You can stop worrying now :) xx

did they mention what it could be at all? x

  • Did your nipple/areola go a bit weird though? Mine has really changed gone puffy, and i can feel a tugging feeling in it every time i move which is radiating to my armpit. Did they take any biopsy’s for u? X

  • So this was at the breast clinic. I had examination she said there was a thickening in the area the GP mentioned so because of that I had an ultrasound, but she said she wasn’t worried and thinks it’s hormonal and breast pain can be a number of reasons not usually linked to cancer. Ultrasound was straight after and I was told it was clear xx

  • It hasn’t no. But I do feel a pulling when laying at night, burning sensation that goes upto armpit. They didn’t do a biopsy. But even if they do when you go that doesn’t mean anything is definitely wrong. She said the lump that was felt by my gp is a thicker tissue than the other breast and the tenderness is likely hormonal x

  • My Nipple has gone quite flat and almost got smaller in size. My actual breast though seems to of grown. I don’t feel any tugging though. I do have the burning sensation that starts sort of underneath the breast and moves up into arm pit. I don’t think there is any lumps, it definitely feels different to the other side but no actual lumps that I can feel x

  • Thats brilliant. Im So glad all is ok for you :)

My areola and nipple has gone different and it looks like theres an indent in my areola to at the top now. It doesnt sound good with mine tbh, it does seem like something bad is going on. I pray it isnt but the heaviness and the pulling sensation seems to be getting much worse. My apoit has now been changed to monday thank god. Even though i need this apoit im scared what the outcome is going to be.

  • Hi Cmck11,

I am delighted to hear that you got the all clear, despite your worries. That must be a fantastic relief for you.

On a dull and dreary day here, that has really made my day!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hope u are ok Jolamine xx

  • Hi N92,

I'm not too bad thank you. I was back at the breast clinic on Tuesday, to investigate why I am fitting and collapsing, quite frequently and am now waiting for a CT scan. They've said that I should get one in about 2 weeks, so, like everyone else here, I am patiently waiting and hoping that there's a non- cancer related reason for them.

How are you coping with your wait, now that you have a date?

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Oh no really fingers crossed for u all will be ok.

Ermm im still feeling the same tbh, im more scared now to no if its anything bad :(

pain hasnt eased at all like i was hoping

  • I'm really sorry to hear that Jolamine  it sounds very worrying ,I hope you get the scan through very soon so they can find out what's going on ,hopefully its nothing major connected to your past breast cancer x

  • Hi Jenny,

Thank you. I'm sincerely hoping that it's not too.  How are you keeping these days?

    Regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi I'm ok I think except the symptoms I had last year which lead to me having a Colonoscopy and Hysteroscopy have returned despite getting the all clear a year ago so I'm keeping an eye on that I've just received another Fit test in the post so we'll see how that goes , but there's so many people on here with the same symptoms as myself and worried about having to have a Colonoscopy and then waiting for results its good to be able to calm people and reassure them with experience you had yourself , I know how I was when I first heard I could have Ovarian cancer I was so glad to find this site ,like many others reading Google posts I had myself in an early grave and it stays with you despite being told nothing worrying was found ,Its good to be there for others x

  • Hi Jenny,

I'm so sorry to hear that your symptoms are back again and still giving you cause for concern.  I'm glad to hear that you are about to do another fit test - don't be afraid to seek further investigation if your symptoms continue.

It is great to have you here supporting all of those with the same symptoms and helping to calm them with the benefit of your experience. Like you, I have found this site to be of tremendous support to me in the past and this is why I try to support others as best as I can.

I agree that Google would have you in a 6" box with the slightest injury, but it is only natural that this is our first port of call.

Please let us know how your fit test goes - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine and thanks for your concern I will let you know how it goes x

  • Hi N92,

How did you get on at the breast clinic today?

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine.

Soo.. He wouldnt even ultrasound me, he felt all around and could see i was swollen by my arm and it was tight (no swollen lymph nodes) he pressed all around my boob an it was sore till he pressed right at the bottom of my boob an it was soooo sore, he said i have done a muscle underneath. I cried to him saying what if its IBC cuz that doesnt show lumps an he said your breast are both normal, he was absolutely adamant i have done a muscle which sill radiate to under the breast. I said why is my nipple doing retracting, he said becus of muscles underneath.
I have some relief but its still in the back of mind i really just need to try and trust him. He was a top consultant, but i just hope hes correct in what he was saying. But he was looking me right in the eyes and saying both breast are normal!

  • Hi N92,

It is always difficult to believe a consultant, when no further tests have been carried out and you have already diagnosed yourself with something serious. Most consultants can tell by the feel of our breasts, whether there is cancer there, or not. If they suspect it, the will then carry out tests to confirm this. I am in a similar position after my visit to the breast clinic last week. The consultant refused to do an ultrasound, because she couldn't find a lump and assured me that all was fine.

I guess that we really have to take the consultants' word and place our trust in their expertise. However, if your symptoms persist and you are not reassured, you are always entitled to a second opinion.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
