It's always a worrying time being referred to the breast clinic for further tests.  We can all tend to 'over think' things.  Try to be reassured that most of the time nothing sinister is found, but you have done the right thing in getting thoroughly checked out.  
 

It might be worth checking if your GP has made an urgent referral and it would be better to ask for this.  This is not because you should be concerned, but because of Covid.  Most hospitals are still on catch up and non urgent referrals can take months to be seen.   As you are feeling so anxious, your GP may agree to do this for you.

When we're younger our breasts are more dense and so you will probably have an ultrasound scan instead of a mammogram.   (It's the same type of scan we have when pregnant).

If they decide you do need a biopsy, remember that biopsies are used to rule out cancer, not just to confirm it. Its natural to think you are more likely to have cancer if they suggest a biopsy, but this isn't the case at all.  They are just being thorough.  Having a biopsy isn't painful but it can feel a bit uncomfortable.  A needle is inserted being guided by ultrasound or a mammogram and a sample is taken.  It doesn't take long. There is usually a 2 week wait for results.  Waiting for results can be difficult.  It's best to keep busy and distract yourself.
