Found a lump in my breast absolutely terrified

I don't even know where to begin iv never done anything like this but I am absolutely petrified. About 2 months ago I found a lump in my left breast I went to the doctors and was told to wait until I had a period. Well 2 months later and the lump is still there so now the doctor has referred me to the breast clinic? (classed as urgent). I am so scared I am only 30 I have 3 young children who I am not ready to leave. I have the lump in my breast, a swollen glad the same side in my armpit and today I have found a new red like mole on the breast the same side. Family keep telling me all is OK and not to worry but I can't help but worry I feel like I'm drowning in the worry. I feel so overwhelmed and don't know what to do can anyone please talk me through what happens at the breast clinic and how long will I roughly be waiting to find out? Xx

  • Hi,

i am so sorry you feel like you do!  I know how you feel I felt it!  The worry is overwhelming, i just want to say that I really hope you have good results and I am sending positive thoughts, this is the worst you will feel, once you know what your dealing with you will feel much better. I was actually diagnosed with breast Cancer in October 21.

I'm 38 and have two young sons, I will share what happened when I went to the breast Clinic.
You will be seen by a Consultant, they will feel the Lump and mark it with a Pen, I had an Ultrasound first, I think they do ultrasounds first with younger women, unfortunately mine was breast cancer, and the doctor doing my Ultrasound told be there and then, I was then sent for a Mammogram, then back for a Biopsy and a clip placed inside where the lump was, it didn't hurt.

To say I was in shock was an understatement as my GP suspected a Cyst. I wish I took someone with me but I didn't think for a second it would be breast cancer or tell me then, I was assigned a breast Care Nurse.

i went back a week later where they were able to confirm Bc and what type. In my case it's was Stage1 I had DCis and high grade IDC my Tumor was 19mm and was Oestrogen fed, and her2-. I have since had a lumpectomy where they removed 2 lymph nodes to check. Which where Negative.

I am half way through Chemo due to it being a Grade 3 and will have Radiotherapy.

Try not to worry I have read lots of feeds where it had been a cyst or something less sinister, my GP said that breasts are complex I have everything crossed for you

  • Hello Sarah thank you for getting back to me. Thank you so much for the well wishes. I am so sorry to hear that and really hope your OK. I have my appointment now which is 7th April so its being dealt with quite fast which has made me feel a litte better. I was told it could be a fatty lump and that it would go but it didn't after the periods. That's horrible you went alone that must of been so scary. I'm hoping my sister will come with me. Thank you for talking me through it I didn't know if I would have to wait even longer to find out as the waiting is horrible. I really am sending you all my love and have everything crossed for you. Thank you for speaking to me. Always here if you need to talk. Lots of love xxx
